The only downside is that part of my health coach's job is to steer me towards the right preventative care. So, time to schedule a bunch of doctor's appointments to get me on track.
I know it's best, but I HATE going to the doctor. How about you?
So, let's vent. Finish this sentence:
What I hate most about going to the doctor is _________________.
Can't wait to hear what you all have to say.
Olivia
With the healthcare system we presently have, what incentive(s) are there for doctors to actually "heal" their patients?
Do they get a bonus? Extra frequent flyer miles? A letter of thanks from the governor? Free SuperBowl tickets?
"Novartis Terminates Drugs/ Expects Charge of 590 Million"

If it cost $300 million to develop a drug, today, what exactly is the incentive to actually make something that "cures"? Do you think they aren't a little concerned about what's happening to Eastman Kodak?
The biggest threat to all drug makers (and doctors) are people adopting healthy lifestyle habits...
Until that day comes, they can charge whatever they want, make us wait as long as they want and suffer unspeakable indignities because?....
They have us over a barrel.
When you get your haircut, the person cutting your hair wouldn't dare ask you to sweep the floor once finished...
Or, if you ordered a meal at a restaurant, the chef wouldn't dream of asking you to come into the kitchen and peel your own potatoes and carrots...And, if you went to the car wash, the manager won't hand you a chamois skin and tell you to dry your own car, yourself.
But, when you go see your doctor, you may or may not receive treatment for your condition, you may or may not get a prescription, you may or may not be asked to draw blood. But, what you will always get before leaving the doctor's office?...
A list of "Things-to-do".
"Healing" is not a passive enterprise; Its a partnership. And, in terms of successful outcomes, this is precisely why medicine has such a crappy batting average...
Because doctors don't get to pick who they "partner" will be.
At my pediatricians I hate that they need to see my insurance card every visit to make a copy. Nothing has changed since last month and if it had I would tell you.
Sorry I know this is an older post but I had to comment.
the 1st thing is injections ..if i have to get one
2nd thing is the environment scares me the people all ill waiting in line ..
next thing i dontlike how doctors generally treat patients (i am going to be doctor myself ) but anyhow i find them mean (just a personal opinion)
They don't have any bedside manner anymore and don't seem to give a damn about the patient's feelings. Well, that and seeing my weight. lol. Man I'm a grouch.

I would have to agree its getting on the scale. I most certainly have room to loose weight. I don't want to go because my Doctor gives me such a hard. Each doctor I go to....."for pete's sakes I am not overweight to piss you off". Its very disappointing. I change doctors in hopes to have someone work with me. I am not having a surgery and I am not going to take your pills. I eat the same things every day. Apple/Yogurt in the am with a cup of cofffee, a sandwich tuna/chicken or pbj. Supper just a plate full of food. I exercise for 30mins a day. I look in the mirror and I love that person I see. Thank you God for that. We are all made special and unique. ps...I am a size 16/18, I am 46yrs old and just became a Grandma. I am trying my best.
But, besides that, consider this, the next time you see your doctor...
What would you want them to say if they really, really cared about you? What if your doctor was your son or daughter... Would you want them to lie to you? Would you want them to hold anything back?
When I go to my doctor's office, I view it as one of the last places on earth where I can hear the "truth", and...
...the harder and colder, the better!
