The only downside is that part of my health coach's job is to steer me towards the right preventative care. So, time to schedule a bunch of doctor's appointments to get me on track.
I know it's best, but I HATE going to the doctor. How about you?
So, let's vent. Finish this sentence:
What I hate most about going to the doctor is _________________.
Can't wait to hear what you all have to say.
Olivia
And don't ignore symptoms we are feeling, we KNOW our own bodies, we know when something isn't right.
And yes, repeating the same things over to 2 or 3 different people is ANNOYING!!! Especially when none of them seem to really be listening anyways!
I could keep venting for hours on this subject!! But I'll stop there!
In the last to years he has never reviewed any blood work, just copies me AND I have high un controlled BP and they don't always take my reading. The weight I just say every other time, I'll pass you see me ballooning up and nobody's checking why.
Ok so I have more then one. VENTING-sorry
After reading through all the most recent replies I want to say that I'm very lucky I have the Dr I do! He does his best and respects my $$ limitations so only insists on the medically required tests etc each year.
I guess my ending to that sentence would have to be, what I hate most about going to the Dr is sitting in enclosed rooms where many times very sick people are breathing their germs in the air! My immune system is shot so I have developed a kind of OCD where germs are concerned!
Thanks again for your inside view, the older I get the more I understand that knowlege/education goes a long way to lessen my fears and angers and frustrations!
* Excessively long waits.
* Being weighed.
* Feeling like the physician is not listening.
* Poor customer service skills.
The vast majority of my doctors visits are positive experiences, but I have felt all of the above at one time or another.
What if Doctors made their living in tips, like a Server in a nice restaurant. Would that change the environment?
It's not just the weight, itself. It's the weight change and the direction of progress. Large, significant changes in weight, up or down, can indicate serious health problems like cardiovascular disease or diabetes...
You don't agree?
It sounds like I am extremly lucky. We do have to wait to see our Dr as well but she takes her time and truely listens to what I have to say. She has called me at home several times to follow up on something. I have been with my Dr. for 10 years and there are 7 of us that see her. She knows our family history. She has listened to me when I say something isn't "right" with one of the kids and works to find out what is wrong. She doesn't push tests that we don't need. She knows we are on a budget and will give us samples when possible and generic drugs if possible.
Now even though I like my Dr. I still need to go get some preventative care done. After all the kids go I just don't feel that I have time to take care of myselft. Getting all the checkups I need is my goal this year.
Thanks
