I am a 32 yr old wife and mother of 2 children. I have been having pelvic, abd, back, and thigh pain. I am also cramping a lot and feel as though my cycle is on, but it is not. When my cycle does come on it is very heavy and the cramps are worse. I also have reoccurring BV. This has been going on for almost a year now. I was told by an ER doctor in June 2011 that I had a ruptured ovarian cyst. I was then place on birth control and the pain went away. I came off of birth control in September and the pain came back, but the cyst was gone. I was seen by a GYN in January and was told nothing was there. I went to the ER with the same pain and rectal pain in March 2013. I had a vaginal ultra-sound and was told, my cervix was inflamed and was given antibiotics. I had a rectal exam and the MD found nothing. The rectal pain went away and a week later I went to another GYN in March and a CT was ordered. The CT came back normal, but I continue to be in pain. I continue to communicate my GYN's office, but they told me to see my Urologist. I replied that I know my body and that this is a GYN issue. I am at a stand-still. The pain is getting worse and I have been on narcotics (dilaudid, lortab, hydrocodone, darvocet, and Ibuprofen 800 for almost a year-this makes me sleepy and I have no desire for sex). I tried for about a week to go without meds and the pain gets unbearable. I can still function, but I feel this is not normal. Please Help!

I don't really have much input but I do know women who had symptoms similar to yours that they assumed were gyn related. It ended up being interstitial cystitis (IC). It seems like you'd also have some urinary symptoms though.

A couple of other things that come to mind are:
- Pelvic Congestion Syndrome (varicose veins in the abdomen which can be caused by pregnancy) - From what I read this can sometimes be seen on ultrasound; however, as with other imaging tests, the findings probably depend on the skills of the radiologist. There are a few articles on PCS in Pubmed. Here's one that may be helpful -
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3036528/
- Endometriosis - although primary endometriosis begins at menarche and tends to become worse over time, secondary endometriosis can be caused by uterine surgery (e.g., c-section). Here's a link about endometriosis -
Endometriosis

Hope you get some answers and pain relief soon! Post back and let us know what you find out.

Another condition that could cause your symptoms - Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). Here's some info -

I've been tested for that by a number of md and was told I didn't have it.

Thank you so much for your help. One GYN told me to see a urologist, but I was that based on my symptoms, the urologist doesn't see patients with the issues I stated above. I do have a little leakage, but attribute it to (reoccurring) Bacteria Vaginosis. I believe I have endometriosis because I have not gotten pregnant and because of my symptoms. Thanks for the links. I am reading it now. Also, I have never had a c-section before. I am just concerned because the pain is getting terrible.

Well it turns out that I have probable cysts and possibly Endometriosis. I have to have another ultra sound and then surgery. Thanks for you help
