Learn Why Your Allergies Aren't Improving and How to Improve Your Immune System to enjoy yourself all over, again!
What's Happening Now
Dec. 3, 2012 -- People exposed to higher levels of certain germ- and weed-killing chemicals may also be more likely to develop food allergies , a new study shows.
The chemicals are called dichlorophenols (DCPs). They are created by the breakdown of common pesticides, including chlorinated chemicals used to purify drinking water. They also turn up in moth balls, air fresheners, deodorizer cakes in urinals, and certain herbicides sprayed on crops.
"They're quite common," says researcher Elina Jerschow, MD, an allergist at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, N.Y.
Doctors don't know why, but rates of food allergies are rising in the U.S. A 2008 study by the CDC found an 18% jump from 1997 to 2007.
Jerschow wondered if increased protection from germs might somehow be lowering the body's tolerance to foods.

I had excess mucous and was prescribed Omeprazole and Flonase. I no longer have the problem. I have to use the Flonase every day, but only use the Omeprazole when I start to notice I need to clear my throat more often and sense that my LPR is causing excess mucous. I take the omeprazole for a week and then wean myself off as indicated by paying attention to the frequency and intensity of my throat clearing and hocking
I wish you good luck!View Thread
I am so sorry this happened to you while in Paris. I'm so happy they were to help you and save your life. That must've been a scary incident. My reactions aren't as life threatening, but I do get very sick to my stomach, along with skin rashes/hives and often difficulty getting a good breath, however, this doesn't mean it can't potentially worsen. Thank you for all of the information you shared. I've been now staying away from all products containing whole wheat. Definitely not worth getting sick over. I hope you're well and not running into anymore unfortunate incidents.
Thank you again.View Thread

Next, I will be looking into detoxing heavy metals and see if that has any impact. I feel for everyone with this confusing and uncomfortable condition.

I just found out recently that I am also allergic to propylene glycol! I had a quick question... if I am allergic to PG and my husband uses products that contains PG, will I somehow react to it? I'm not sure if he should also be on a PG free like I am!
Thanks!View Thread

For the last few months, I was able to control my condition about 80%.
It does not go away 100%, but I am feeling more confident with being with others.View Thread
this whole thing is scary and all these reactions cause my throat to swell almost shut.
my question is, is this happening because I got switched back to the lowest dose?
I've never had food allergies before. only after they stopped giving me my maintenance dose and put me on the lower one. all i can eat now is plain chicken. any help would be great!View Thread
Since she isn't a reactionary and both of us have had shingles.... damn.
Does anyone know of a link to a list of products which are formaldehyde and formaldehyde-derivative safe?
Also, could members please post additions/ problems about any list-links posted, and/or additional products which linked-lists leave out.
At this point, about all I've got is that "Tide Free & Clear" is the only mainstream laundry detergent that doesn't include derivatives. Please, if you don't know links, list anything you can think of that is safe too that you've discovered on your own.
Ideally, given how ghastly the symptoms of this allergy are, there ought to be either a link to a products list or our own list here.
Much,
