What's Happening Now
All that exercise is paying dividends. Keep it up.
I've had a few bad eating days - not unhealthy eating, just too much, so working on a new plan. Need more routine in my eating habits (e.g. set times). Hoping to get back onto track as soon as possible.View Thread
If you know what your problem is (overeating on the weekend), you have to plan some strategies for the weekend. You'll have to plan your eating and eating times as much as you can in advance. What in particular is it about weekends that lead you astray?
Good for going to the health club - keep it up, at least 3 times a week if you can. It will become a habit! And remember that not everything that is good for us, is terribly exciting. Even if exercising may seem boring, your body is grateful for it.View Thread
If exercise is hard for you, how do you plan on changing that when you get a bike? If your asthma medicated? Do you have an inhaler? What does your doctor say about working out with your condition?
To help with your chocolate cravings, maybe try doing a square or two of dark chocolate a day? That's what I've done to get rid of my crazy chocolate addiction, and it's healthy for you!

For a safe exercise, I vote simply walking around your neighborhood. It won't over exert you, but it should pump up your metabolism a little bit. Maybe discuss with a doctor what exercises would be worthwhile for you, perhaps swimming?
You can do it!
You've lost the weight before, and now it's just a matter of finding a more sustainable plan for ya.View Thread
I live alone and am always eating on the go is probably one of my biggest problems.
Its pretty hard to determine what triggers it that way.View Thread
I did buy some but so far, I've been hesitant to try it.View Thread
Working and exercising can be tricky. I recently did a job for 5 weeks, and I had to start at 8am. That meant I had to get up at 4.15 or 4.20 am to go to the gym before work. I did it all 5 weeks long, but it was not easy.
How about getting up at 5am and going for a jog/walk some mornings, and on some mornings do some home exercises like ab crunches, squats, lunges, or use weights/bands at home?
What is the main stumbling block as far as diet is concerned, with your new job? If you eat a healthy breakfast, and pack a light lunch and 2 smallish snacks, and then savour a nice (but portion controlled) dinner, it would be a good start.
Don't despair too much. This may just be the turning point for you. Good luck and keep writing to us.View Thread
Good job on your weight loss! Any little bit lost is a positive step toward even better results. It's best to get it under control while you are still pretty young because once you become older, it becomes more difficult to keep the weight off and keep the motivation going. I am almost 40 and have weighed 234. I didn't look like I weighed that much because of my muscle mass, but I did. I joined a program that was in a weightloss competition to give me a boost to start exercising and watching what I ate. I was able to drop 28 lbs in 2 months, which was pretty unhealthy, BUT it was my start. I was going to start a program called "Body for Life" this week but my monthly came, so it got pushed back till next week. It is a program designed by Bill Phillips, he also has a book out about the program. It incorporates weights and cardio because my ultimate goal was to bodybuild, but I really just want to get lean and toned. So, whatever works for you, keep going and don't quit.View Thread

ThanksView Thread
I challenge everyone on the board to get outside and walk today. Then, come to the board and tell us what you saw while you were out in the fresh air.
(And, if you're counting your steps, how many did you log?)

BMI is calculated with a formula (basically, weight divided by height squared). Ideally this should not be more than 25.
Body fat is measured in a number of ways, and up to 30% is still "normal", but more than that would indicate being overweight.View Thread
I would have steered clear of the pizza and wings, but would've made myself a big healthy salad and maybe a grilled chicken breast instead, with fruit for dessert.
If you indulged, just continue eating healthy and in small portions tomorrow.View Thread

Don't forget to dress yourself in green to avoid the pinch and consider adding greens to your plate in honor of your health.

It's not ideal to lose weight this way because you don't replenish the nutrients you need. You also are more likely to go over your calorie budget, because a big unhealthy meal isn't going to give you good energy. It slows your metabolism to digest crappy food, and that's bad because not only does it effect that meal, but it effects how you digest every other meal you eat.
Crappy food, too, tends to mean slower weight loss for me because my body retains salt like craaaazy, so even though it's not "real" weight gain per se, my scale also doesn't budge.
You're going SO great!!! You've lost 13 lbs in two months AKA six and a half pounds a month AKA a little more than a pound a week...That's healthy! That's what most doctors reccommend for a good pace of weight loss. It's a great foundation for you to continue taking care of yourself!!
Keep up the excellent exercise! How so you feel about the Jillan Michaels DVD? Are they worth getting?View Thread
Hope you all are well.
Ok so I've been on here just a few days and came across loads of info. I've been hearing from many people that green tea (Chinese jasmine tea) is great for losing weight but I didn't believe it until I read about it on here. So I thought I'd put the theory to the test. And guess what? It actually works! I feel more calm, fresh and cleansed. Also, I don't feel as hungry as before. Instead of going for something sweet (which is my weakness, esp chocolate), I just fill up on water to avoid the habit of mindless snacking. Believe it or not, my food consumption has cut down by at least 25% even on a bad day! Besides, this is a much healthier alternative to regular black tea or coffee.
So go ahead and try it out. Oh and please do give me your feedback. I'd be happy to share your experience too.

I'm new to WebMD and I find it much better than the previous site I was using. It's more user friendly, more informative and has some great tools to guide my weight loss regime and help me cope with bipolar. I have loads of questions regarding my mental condition for which I've found some answers on here. I had no idea I was making so many diet mistakes until I used the weight regulating tools. I've also joined a discussion group for weight loss so I hope to find that motivation and sense of belonging I'm looking for to keep me on track. Thanks for reaching out to me and others!
