But what does "regular" and "irregular" mean in terms of your menstrual cycle?
"Regular" Menstrual Cycles
The length of your menstrual cycle is the time between the first day of bleeding during one period to the first day of bleeding during your next period. In general, we consider a "normal" cycle length to be between 24 to 35 days. For most women, it is normal to have bleeding from 2 to 7 days. Also important in this equation are the associated symptoms. These menstrual symptoms, called "molimina", include breast tenderness, abdominal cramping, and a thin vaginal discharge that usually occurs mid-cycle.
It is not uncommon for teenagers and women in their 40s and up to see some abnormal or unexpected changes in their cycles.
A "regular" menstrual cycle usually indicates ovulation.
"Irregular" Menstrual Cycles
Cycles that fall outside of the aforementioned range -- or that vary from one cycle to next by 10 days or more -- are considered irregular and are most likely anovulatory, or indicative of a woman's lack of ovulation.
It's helpful to mark a calendar for the days you menstruate. After a few months, you will be able to recognize whether your period is regular or not. I encourage women who have irregular menses to consult with their health care provider, especially when trying to conceive.View Thread

I have always been regular (28-30 days) but my past two cycles have been 37 days, 43 days, and right now I'm on day 44 for this cycle and no period. The hardest part is we are trying to get pregnant, and I have no clue when I'm ovulating or when I'm late. I've taken several pregnancy tests over the past 2 weeks, all are negative. It's very frustrating and expensive!
Has anyone experienced this? Any advice on getting back to normal?View Thread

Myth # 1: You can't exercise while trying to conceive.
In general, exercise is healthy and will not affect your ability to conceive.
Myth # 2: You can control your baby's sex.
Evidenced-based medical trials have not been able to prove that timing intercourse relative to ovulation can increase the chances of conceiving a girl or a boy. In fact, couples that try to follow these methods may have more trouble reproducing because they may avoid having intercourse at the most optimal times for conceiving.
Myth # 3: You better reproduce in your 20s, or you're out of luck.
There is no exact threshold after which conceiving is less likely. We do start to see a steeper decline in fertility in women in their late 30s and 40s. Conception rates also seem to decline as the man in the relationship gets further beyond age 40.
Myth # 4: If you don't get pregnant right away, then you are infertile.
In general, there is about a 15% chance each month that -- when trying under normal circumstances -- a couple will successfully conceive…Think about that for a second. If you have everything going perfectly for you, and you have no barriers to conception, you have only a 15% chance EACH MONTH of conceiving. Before I got into medicine I -- like most of you, I'd bet -- assumed this percentage was much higher.
Myth # 5: Once you get pregnant, miscarriage is very rare.
I think this misconception arises because many couples will not share with friends and loved ones when they have experienced miscarriage. They will, however, advertise if they are pregnant and doing well. In reality, miscarriage rates usually fall between 15% and 20%.
Myth # 6: You must avoid all alcohol while trying to conceive.
Obviously, high levels of alcohol should be avoided (greater than 2 drinks a day). However, several studies show that moderate alcohol consumption has no effect on fertility. With that said, once you find out you are pregnant alcohol should be avoided.
Myth # 7: Frequent ejaculation decreases male fertility.
Medical studies show maintenance of normal sperm quality and quantity, even with daily ejaculation. Abstinence of greater than 5 to10 days can lead to a decrease in healthy sperm cells. In general, couples should have sex daily, or at least every other day, during their fertility window.
Myth # 8: If you want to get pregnant in a year, you should stop your birth control now.
In general, there is little delay in conception from cessation of most birth control methods. The exception seems to be the "shot", which may lead to a few months delay in conception for some women -- not all.
Myth # 9: Different positions during and after sex can increase your chances of conceiving.
Post-sex rituals, such as lying on your back with your legs in the air, have no effect on the likelihood of conception. Nor does one sexual position result in higher conception rates than others.
Myth # 10: You're more likely to get pregnant if you have an orgasm during sex.
The presence or absence of female orgasm does not affect your likelihood of conceiving.

I am not a doctor but I have been through infertility treatments in the near past. Based on what I know you can conceive with one tube as long as the tube is open and working properly. But it might take longer than usual to conceive. For your pcos you might need medication to help you ovulate. Whether you need to go for IVF or IUI or try on your own will depend on the results of the xray (I am assuming thats the dye test) and your age.

I would start using Ovulation predictor kits to figure out when you ovulate. You can buy it at any pharmacy or online.
But it can take you a year to conceive. Some people take longer to conceive. If you have started getting your periods regularly since October then its been only 7 months you have been trying to conceive.

We did all we could to get pregnant, so I am hoping I am but.... how long do I wait to see? Or how long does it usually take for an HPT to show a positive? Or how long should I wait to get a blood test instead?
I'm just so anxious, but I don't want to be overly anxious and rush to a doctors office too early! :0 But I just want to know one way or the other!! I've never been pregnant, so some of the symptoms I am feeling I have no idea if it's normal for the start of a pregnancy.
I am also overly anxious because I have already been told that I will be a high risk. I have a previous history of pulmonary embolisms due to birth controls. So to be cautious I was told I will have to be given low doses of heparin. So I do need to know pretty quickly if I am pregnant so I can start that. But I don't know if 3 days late is just too early to rush out and ask for a blood test?
Am I just getting too excited too quickly???
