Its hard to see, because he feels bad about himself, and we work on that. He knows he is acting out and saying hurtful things. Patience and understanding is highly needed in taking care of this issue.
Thankfully this year we did get a highly recommended teacher! Pray it goes well!

We just bought the poster of Famous Americans with ADHD too!
I just posted info on dietary ways to help too.
We took parenting classes too. Love and logic courses. All helps, but with ADD/ADHD I think they need firmer routines and behavioral expectations. To many choices left my son aggitated and he didn't know what he wanted. I give him 2 choices, and when its appropriate.
Love and Logic is a great technique to try, with adaptations.
Get them help before school and talk to the school. My son has had horrible experiences, with teachers being down right inappropriate towards him. He is a challenge, but thats not an excuse for teachers to make him feel bad if front of everyone!View Thread

I feed him well in the am, before ever giving him the Adderall, including fish oil gummies and multi vitamin gummies too. I give him those a couple times a day, and try to include other dietary stuff. Naturally lots of fruit and veggies, soy nuts in salads. I have read soooo much on the alternative approach. Diet is huge, and I try hard to keep it a priority, but we get busy, and lazy with meals from time to time, and its hard. Even with a homeopathic formula from health food stores, called Kidalin, didn't help his frustration levels. Seems irritated about little things, covers his ears cause sounds but him.
I have a book called 3 steps to conquering add-adhd, and the list of vitamins those with ADHD/ADD lack are:
number 1!! B vitamins
calcium pantothenate B5
calcium, Amino acids - 5 HTP tryptophan
Zinc
Important foods, to inc in diet
bananas, lemons, melons, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, asparagus, peanuts, eggs, soy, milk, good breads, whole grain, almonds, nuts,
Great reading all the info on this site.View Thread

He can be so defiant, that people see him as rude and mean. He is not....deep down it gets us both, because he is a kid with a big heart, and little patience. easily frustrated and I agree, having increased patience in parenting is best. Its tough though for everyone, until you can find the help you need.View Thread
