I go through bouts of sadness for my son, because this isn't easy for him especially. I think we are on the right track though.

- B vitamins - B6/B5 bananas, lemons, melons, spinach, squash, okra, cauliflower, eggs, peanuts, soy beans, muchrooms, etc.
- Calcium - nuts again, lentils, breads, yogurt, milks etc.
- 5-HTP (tryptophan) - Amino acids, like flax, milk, eggs,
- Zinc - seafood, shelfish, peanut butter, asparagus, spanach, good veggies again, and whole grain cereals,
I looked up each Nutrient and made a list of foods rich in each of the vitamins/mineral
Fish Oil, and those new V8 juice drinks are a good source. I am continuing to do all I can dietary wise, but recently put my son on Adderall too. I don't know how I feel about it, but with school starting I felt we should try. My son has not had the best school experiences and is behind in academics. Language, all aspects including speech.
He is hypersensitive to his surroundings and highly intuitive. Still reacts before thinking about what he is saying and doing, but we talk about it all the time, and try to find ways to "self control".
Its been tough at times.
All the info, and other experiences are helpful to read about. Thanks for sharing what has worked and what did not.
I also just ordered us a poster of Famous Americans with ADHD, we'll frame it and put it up in our son's room. Maybe we should get one for his classroom too. Awareness = Understanding. I worry there will be someone who teases him because of it though.View Thread
