Tklock1 I have never been to college but i have struggled with the symptoms you have described . I have created a post a while ago where those on the board that gave tips for dealing with the symptoms you have described I will bump it back to the top. You may want to talk with a doc there are medicines that can help to.
WOW i leave the board for a month or two and there are still people responding to this post. I am really glad that so many people have found it useful. thanks for all the support in keeping this post to the top of the board.
You both sound like you have ADD if it affects you bad enough to make a post than it is bad enough to get help for it if you can. I my self put it off until my early thirties only getting help/ getting on meds after my job perimeters changed and i was unable to keep up with my paper work there are things you can do to cope or adjust I will bump a post with tricks i put together months ago up to the top. I do not Know if this helped but i feel for both of you i have been there.
Anon128559 it sound like you are all tangled up in symptoms you might want to try the Bipolar page because a lot of what your describing is what newbies on that page describe all of the time. I have ADD but most of my family has Bipolar disorder. You could have any number of things mixed together you might try doing some research and see if you can find Psychiatrist that specializes in hard to diagnose mental problems. When I got diagnosed with ADD I went to mental health clinic. They did a full work up mind and body. The clinic I went has a reputation for untangling the hard to diagnosed problems. maybe there is something like that in your area. other than that it sound like you are having it bad. I don't know if that helped or not good luck.
kmshlmt I feel for you I have been where you are at now. When i found a career that made me happy two things happened at the same time I took a risk, I tried something new and i decided that if i ever do find the right line of work for me as long as the bills are paid and I could put food on the table i would go with what made me happy. For me it worked out well the some thing new i tried was security officer work and thirteen years later I am still loving my work for the most part. although i a have to admit with technology like computers alarm systems and cctv it challenging me more than i thought it ever would. I have had to make some sacrifices to keep enjoying it. Maybe you should do some soul searching and wright down on a peace of paper a list of all of the things you like doing along with what you think are your best attributes then see if you can come up with some ideas for a job that includes them. Also at some point and time you may need to talk to a doctor about your inventiveness and even get on medicine if it is ADD or ADHD. Have you ever thought of talking to a career counselor alot of states provide career counseling free through the unemployment office I have herd that they have you take test to see what skills you have and then print out a list of possible careers that may suit you. I do not know how help full I have been. I do wish you well on your journey and hope you figure out what works for you soon.
