I ma so sorry. NO parent should have to do this. My best advice is keep pushing. I did. I think i even became known as the "witch" of the school, but I feel I need to do what's besyt for my child. If I don't who will. Keep up the fiught. It will be hard, frustrating, and angering at times, but it will evenutally pan out. You know the sayin the squeaky wheel gets the oil? Keep squeaking!!! Good Luck. My daughter is on the fence like yours is, I understand how it feels. Keep fightingView Thread

My daughter has had simialr issues. She never was held back; hhowever, she has been behind most of her academeic years. I did the research and we also moved to a new school and was successfiul in getting my daughter a 504. All we needed to get it was a diagnosis of ADHD. I am a true witch when it cvomes to my daughter ands her education. She is entitled an education like everyone else. Si she doesn't learn the same realistically neither does any of the other kids. He r brain is wired different and so she needs extra hepls. She is in 7th grade and has a special math class and gets extra help and we put in reduced assignments as needed for her to be successful. Keep ont he school. They can do a 504, but most educators don't like them. Oh well. Good luck Stay on them. and keep loving your daughter as all of us love ours.View Thread

Help!!!! My daughter was diagnosed with ADD when she was 5 yr old. We have doing the meds. They for the most part help. School has ALWAYS been very hard for her. So mych so she has built a wall that not too many get through. All of her teachers up until this yaer ahave told me, " don't worryy, she will catch on, she will get it." I'm still waiting and she is now 12 years old and almost in middler school. I was FINally able to get her a 504 for school. Her teachers this yr feel that we are dealing with a learning problem as well. I agree, but it has been and continues to be frustrating. Homework is the pits. Every time I help her it ends in shut down and tears. How do I help her? What do I tell teachers? Do I meet with school leaders foe middle school before she gets there? I am lost and don't know what to do.View Thread

My daughter is ADD. She is 11 years old and swwems to have problems focusing on things. She hears event he slightest sound in class and loses focus. I have a nephew with sesnory issues. Could she have them and who and how do I get them tested to help her. She is relly struggling in schooil right now, and her teachers are quite concerned. I have checked into a 504, but was told they were more for kids with physical or medical problems. Where do I go for help and who do I talk to to help her get the extra help for school. She has days she's seems on ( focusing) and others she's off ( her brain doesn't seem to be functioning.) I want to help her, but she will often not talk to me. Her self- Esteem is really low,and seems that to talk about it, brings i down more. HELPView Thread

My daughter is 11 yrs old. She has been on Straterra since she was about 6. I've noticed that it doesn't seem to work as well anymore. Can this be because of hormones, or is her system used to the straterra? I've been tryin to decide if I want to talk to my pediatrician about intuniv. My insurance won't cover it. IS it very expensive? What are the pros and cons.View Thread

He was started on a slightly higher dosage of concerta but is down a bit, i think he's on 10 mg He is better after the concerta wears off. He hasn'r been aggressive as much until he was put on the concerta. He is alos currently taking Depakote as well. My sister has an appointment with his counsellor tomorrow. He does have some anger issues as well. They are being dealt with. Thank you for your help.View Thread
