my 15 year old son was dignosed with adhd and odd 2 years ago, he tried medication but soon began to refuse to take them and refuses to see the consultant to disscuss any other kind of medication. He is volitile, destructive agresive, defiant, rude and downright difficult all day every day. He wont go to school (lol not that he is in school any longer having been excluded from main stream education and the pupil referal unit transfered him after only a mounth as they could not cope with his behaviour, so now he goes to external provision 3 half days a week ) he wont go to bed he wont get up he walks in and out of the house as he pleases refusing to even just come and say mum im going out he wont come in when he is supposed to staying out till whatever time he pleases. He wont talk to anyone about how he feels and insists that he does not have a problem. has anyone got any suggestions as to what i can do to help him understand how his behaviour affects othersView Thread

you are not alone my son is15 and has adhd with oppositional defiant disorder and a tic he was on medication but he soon fell out with it (with help from his father) i am still trying to get him an appointment to see a behavioural thearpist as well as many other agencies but dont give up your daughter is young and with your love you will find a way. 2 things my mum said to me which i found help were to first learn to laugh with your friends and family about it my son was a little older than your daughter when he took to climbing on the shed roof and pretending to be a monkey. still makes me chuckle even now. secondly make sure you find some you time it does make a difference.View Thread

you said she is young do you think it would still work for my son as he is 15 now. i to am divorced from his father and unfortunatly i dont get any support from him at all and it is because of him that my son refuses to discuss conventional medication, because of his age i am unable to stop him from seeing his father so even if it would be appropriate his father would not be willing to follow the routine.View Thread
