adhd is evidenced by a low production of dopamine. Dope is short for dopamine, as most drugs increase the production of dopamine causing the euphoric feelings, including opiates, the classification of which oxycontin is a part. Psychostimulants such as adderall and dexedrine are amphetamines, and desoxyn is literally methamphetamine, along with ritalin, all have a potential for abuse, but usually if taken for adhd the effects of countering the symptoms far outweigh the negative, as studies indicate a lower occurrence of drug abuse in kids that were diagnosed with adhd and medicated at an early age. It took me about a year to not feel as if I was "slipping" as a recovering addict of 10 years when I was diagnosed with inattentive type adhd in 1997 and put on desoxyn, but the relief and subsequent diminishment of the symptoms has changed my life for the better, and I have had no desire to use other drugs.View Thread
enlightenment is realized and not something you can learn. Teachers can point only point you in the right direction, when attained, you realize that everything in this world is in perfect harmony.
Growing up with a.d.d but diagnosed until I was 47, school was hell. My mind would drift when a teacher began to lecture or whenever forced to stay in my room, as my mother would have me do, (she would test me to see if I had studied), and I would attempt to read the same sentence over and over ad infinitum, just reading words without absorbing the content, to the point of extreme mental anguish. My brain was like an undisciplined child and if it was given a tedious task it would refuse... On the other hand I tested with a very high IQ, and read many, many, books, books that I devoured such a Tom Sawyer or anything appealing to my imagination. Now diagnosed with inattentive type adhd, no hyperactivity, and on an effective therapeutic level dose medication, all is achievable. But in dealing with your child, please bear in mind the above an effect a balanced compromise, but most of all he's gonna need your unconditional love and support to not feel as if he is broken, learn know his limitations and his positive attributes, his imagination is probably off the charts, don't accuse him of intentionally not applying himself as this will create untold problems with his self image, I know from experience...View Thread
