Learn Why Your Allergies Aren't Improving and How to Improve Your Immune System to enjoy yourself all over, again!
My son is 13 months old and had a reaction to peanut butter recently. He broke out in hives and his eyes became itchy and swollen. There were no respitory or tummy issues. I do not know anyone with a peanut allergy and this is all new to me. He has eaten foods many times that contain trace amounts of nuts and never had a problem. Must I avoid ALL peanut foods or is is actually a good thing to expose him slowly to food with some nuts as long as he does not react? Will giving him very small amounts actually build up a tolerance?

I dont have quite the degree of allergy reaction that you do, but I understand your challenge. My question though is, you say you are a nurse, how do you deal with these allergies at work(if you are still able to work)??? I worked at a surgery center so I know they try to avoid there being any fragrances on workers and such to benefit their patients, but I found that I had trouble convincing my employers that the scented air fresheners they use in the bathrooms (and of course the employees that spray on gallons before they go home) is a danger to my health - they seem to ignore this fact or refuse to do anything about it, like they care for their patients more than their employees.
How have you handled this with your severe allergies. We have to work so avoidance is not always an option.View Thread
I was just standing in my kitchen when I light bulb went on in my head. The only thing different in the last few months is the new fish tank set up. I poped the top in the filter chamber. GROSS. The algea build up was horrid, and wouldn't you know, mold was growing on the top of that.
Now, I do change my filter regularly, every month and change the water at least every 2 months. My son started coughing more when I cleaned out the filter unit tonight, so that got me thinking. Is there alergies to algea?View Thread
The past few weeks, everyone I know who suffers from allergies have been miserable with sinus problems, but I have not had any sinus problems at all.
What I have had is a major breakout of hives on my extremities. I have not changed my diet or my lotion or soap or anything in that time.
Due to the sudden onset of hives and lack of sinus problems, I'm wondering if it's possible for my allergies to change from sinus allergies to skin allergies?View Thread
Thank you

I have asthma and have developed an extreme reaction to any and all synthetic fragrances. I already take inhaled steroids, inhalers, and daily oral anti-histamines. If I get around synthetic (not organic) fragrances I start feeling a clogging in my throat. This is followed by tightness and sometimes spasms in the throat, shortness of breath, wheezing and turning blue around my mouth and fingernails. I feel like I'm choking and have had to use both epi-pen and rescue inhaler to reverse this. Treatment now for me is avoidance of public places. The only solution an immunologist and pulmonologist had was to limit my time in public and only go out with carbon filter mask and oxygen in tow for hypoxia. I still have some trouble because the mask does not filter 100%. I have also tried a chemical respirator. My life has become very isolated. Does anyone know of any treatment to de-sensitize a severe fragrance allergic/asthmatic reaction so that I can have a normal life again? Anyone???View Thread
I have this severe itching on my upper body. It itches to the point I am loosing my mind. everywhere itching, stomach, back, arms, breasts and now I also have irritation on my face. My face does not itch, just got some pimple like bumps. the other part of my body when I scratch it forms bumps and forms pimple like bumps. I am taking benadryl but once it wears out the itching returns. Is going on for 5 days now. Also not only itch but I have this tingling like someone is poking me with a tiny needle.
Any suggestions?
I read on another discussion about many people having the same symptoms and all have herpes simplex. Is this possible?View Thread

I understand how uncommon it is to be alergic to something that is naturally occuring. However, can someone not be allergic/sensative to something foreign to the body?
I reacted to saline during a controled test, with a board certified allergist and have experienced first hand swelling and respratory impairment that appeared to link with saline.
Aside from this, there is a similar family history.
Please address this issue again. Scoffing not necessary.View Thread
My symptoms when exposed: rash, raspy voice, chest tightness and sob.
Thank you for your help.

(sorry, pictures might scare you)

Flared up

After cold shower (doesn't really get much better than this)
No one else in my family has this. I can't fall asleep because it flares about once every 1-2 hours, and the flare ups last about half an hour with inflammation lasting all day. During flare ups my asthma is triggered, and it's like a never ending cycle of death from there. I've seen dermatologists, but they keep saying "contact dermatitis" which doesn't really help me with my problem. I've tried steroids, but I've used them for so long I'm afraid my skin is getting thin as paper. There must be a better way.. I don't have money to keep seeing specialists, and I'm trying my best to handle it on my own. I ice it and stay away from heat, tight clothes, etc. It's impossible for me to focus on my studies, makes physical activities difficult, and it's absolutely killing me emotionally. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys
