I have been suffering a miserable food allergy to pepper (all kinds) since the beginning of 2012. Pepper is hidden in almost every prepared food and it is a challenge to continually avoid it. When I (unknowingly) eat anything with pepper in it I break out in full body hives that itch so badly I have to lay on the bed with frozen vegetables on the hives to get any relief. Which is temporary (and inconvenient) at best. My doctor put me on Prednisone (which doesn't make much difference) and a high strength hydrocortisone cream (which doesn't make any difference at all).
I'm posting because, after trying every cream and ointment on the drug store shelf (expensive and otherwise),l I have actually found an ointment that relieves the itch for several hours. I almost can't believe it. But because it DOES really work on the itch of hives, all of you may wish to try it was well. It's a Walgreens product called "Maximum Strength Medicated Anti-Itch Cream" Enriched With Aloe & Vitamin E Net Wt 2 oz (56g). It smells a little bit like Ben Gay or Deep Heat but I don't care. It gives me relief for about 3 - 4 hours during the worst period of my hives outbreak.
I hope it can help some of you as it has been helping me.View Thread
