Please try Allegra 24 hr relief or the generic. I used the CVS brand. I was about to go see an allergist but I tried it first and the itching went away. I had the itching attack since late January of this year and it got very frequent until last month to the point it woke me up in the middle of the night so my dr friend advised it and it work for me.View Thread
Benadryl is for few days use, a temporary quick relief with drowsiness. I wouldn't use it for long term. I am horrible in taking pills especially the once that makes me feel dizzy. This is why I stop taking my cholesterol and BP pills. When my BP was normal my dr gave me a go signal to stop it. I' d rather do my exercise and walk then taking these pills. So aim hoping these Allegra is only for a month or less and the itching goes away or is seasonal. We will see......
Good Luck to all of you itching out there. Hope this is a cure for us.....
Hope we all don't get together. Can you imagine us being together and we are all having an attack at the same time? Then we can all be at the America's got talent.... View Thread
It is possible to start having allergies on food you use to eat when you were a kid. It happened to me too that I had to stop eating it. It' s same way as you don't smoke all your life no wheezing and you stay and live in same area then on your 40-50' s you started wheezing. I still think its stress related but who know's. I was also taking Benadryl at bedtime only because soon as I lay down on my bed my itching started. Detergent was not the cause because we have been using same detergent for 5 yrs now. Mattress is yr old so that's not it. My worst attack is at night just as I am getting ready to go to sleep that's why I started taking Benadryl but when I got an attack at work it was so embarrassing that I started taking the generic Allegra 24 hr and it worked. It' s going 4 days now. The pinning sensation attack went away.View Thread
I beg that to differ. There' a cure try 24 Hr Allegra. Had the itching for since January and it gotten worst last month having it more frequently. Tried the Allegra and its been 3 days now with no itching compared to 2 mos ago every 4-5 hrs a pin is poking my skin.View Thread
Hi! Ok I got the same similar situation. Itching feels like a pin poking on my skin anywhere on my body usually on my thighs or my back. I have no skin dryness too, they' re moist. No visible rashes, no history of allergies of any kind and I have this attack of itchiness for 6 mos. now to the point of waking up in the middle of the night itching. Consulted my family friend who knows me medically and he said to try Allegra or generic fexofadine? Spelling might be incorrect. So went to CVS and found out brand was so expensive so I went ahead and tried the CVS generic fexofanidine 24 HR and it worked. It lasted me more than 24 hr no drowsiness. I was taking Generic Benedryl 25-50 mg at night only but drowsiness is lasting past my alarm. The itching stopped for 3 days now. Hopefully it will continue. I still think its stress related but who knows. Tried stopping my cholesterol and losartan (BP meds) for 3 wks now thinking prolonged used of these meds might be causing it but itching didn't stop so its not those meds I am taking. So try the Allegra generic or brand. Apparently, I found out that the antihistamine of Allegra has 180mg of antihistamine compared to Zyrtec has less around 18-20mg if I remembered it correctly. Good Luck!
