I have coughed since September, 1995 My cough is unsettling, nervewracking, worrysome and the repetiveness of my cough sounds unhealthy and aggravating, not only to me, but my family, friends, co-workers and even strangers. I cough 24/7/365 although not constantly, it is oodles of times thru the day and night. My cough is loud and extremely uncontrollable and at times I have bouts appearing like choking or suffocating or gagging to the point of vomiting. The cough may become a little productive bringing up amounts of sticky clear phlegm in my throat, also associated with this cough is hoarseness, scratchy speech —sounds like I have a cold, sounds very nasally and congested, feels like a coating over my voicebox, I get headaches, shortness of breath, nautiousness, dry mouth, extremely tired, complexion will range from flush to beat red, sweating, sometimes stuffy nose, othertimes runny nose, stiffness thru chest and shoulder pain, urinary incontinence, unhealthy sleep patterns, and total embarrassment. My cough is there all the time I sometimes have episodes where I am unable to finish a sentence and I have to turn away and cough repeatedly and violently. I often feel like there is something restricting in my throat, and/or dripping in my throat making it hard to swallow, it seems like there is an irritating tickling sensation in my throat causing me difficulty causing me to constantly try to clearing my throat or trying to bring something up. I have noticed that eating or chewing gum or even brushing my teeth can cause coughing spasms. Also heat in a car, blankets or hot flashes will trigger the cough too. Sometimes I hear wheezing noises coming from my throat around the area where the cough comes from. My cough sounds like a regular cough, like a cold, starts like a continous cough, then follows is a harsh deep bronchial cough, almost like a seal bark. I do have reflex acid, post nasal drip, asthma, all medications seem to work in the beginning but wear off quickly. I have tried everything medically, natural paths, homeopaths, iridologist, now going to try hypnotist. I have changed my diet, all without success. View Thread
