I am reading an article by Duane Graveline, MD NASA Space Medicine Research Scientist, that says that statins can be assoiciated with trasient global amnesia...which he says is a memory disfunction..or basically an alzehimers type of condition...
and like my mom...they keep giving her Lipitor..and that could be the reason for her confusion...not anything else??? I am going to tell her to try not taking her Lipitor and see what happens...View Thread
I saw an article by msnbc about a supplement called Inositol. I looked it up on Webmd, and one of the things it says it is good for is Alzheimers. Has anyone suggested to anyone here that they try it? Any word or advice on it?
Apparently, it is doing some good in dealing with lung cancer...but they didn't talk about it with Alzheimers.
I am so with you....it is so hard to know the right thing to do and when to do it...and getting clear infomation as to what to expect, and when to expect it.
I have noticed that any change can be difficult for my mom and set her back for awhile. I try to change things to make it easier, and realize now...that having to learn a new way to do things can actually be much more difficult.
I don't think doing something out of love can ever be called a mistake. That is obvious what you did. Will she get use to the changes? Should you instead put her in a home? I surely don't have the answer...but do remember you need to make sure you don't ruin your health, trying to take care of her.
My mom won't go near a care center...so right now, there isn't much of a choice. But maybe, if you could look into some places near you...so that you can come get her for a day...or something like that...maybe that would be the best...
I send you tons of hugs...and all the best wishes...There surely isn't a right answer to any of these questions.
