I wanted to share just a really quick tip regarding panic disorder. I have suffered from panic disorder for years now and after many months of practice have been able to control the vast majority of attacks. One of the main problems I experience from my panic disorder is throat tightening and the fear my throat will close. My doctor has taught me now that the majority of the time, this tightness is attributable to neck and shoulder tension. Once I realized this, I began testing out this theory. She was correct. My throat was feeling tight because my shoulders and/or neck muscles were tight. So I know have a two pronged approach to calming panic. First, practice your breathing, pushing out your stomach with each breath. While doing this, focus on your neck and shoulders and relax them. The throat tightness should slowly fade away. I hope this helps someone out there, as this was the one symptom of panic that freaked me out.View Thread
