At the bottom of each page in our Comunities, we also have this information for you. Especially take note of the first sentence which I have placed in bold: "Do not consider WebMD User-generated content as medical advice. Never delay or disregard seeking professional medical advice from your doctor or other qualified healthcare provider because of something you have read on WebMD. You should always speak with your doctor before you start, stop, or change any prescribed part of your care plan or treatment. I'm only 18 years old and I can't imagine how my life will be .. I'm so desperate and depressed. Please, I know this is the internet, but please show some compassion to me. Tell me the truth, is there help at all or can it be treated at all? If not, I guess I'm just going to do the unthinkable.. I cannot stand this any longer. (I've only had this for one night and this is how I'm feeling right now..but that's because I am feeling SO hopeless and my low self esteem is no help either).View Thread
my recommendations for getting through anxiety are:
1) get out of the house. staying at home and worrying about your symptoms and what your feeling always makes it worse.
2) get your mind off of whatever your feeling. do something to take your mind off of it. being bored is an anxious persons worse enemy.
3) don't be afraid to talk to others. talk with a friend or a family member. don't hold everything inside.
4) when your sick, DO NOT google your symptoms. there is so much crap on the internet that will only make you feel worse. if you think something is wrong with you, GO TO THE DOCTOR, please dont go on the internet looking for answers, personal experience, it will make you feel so much worse.
5) go to your doctor and get on medicine and seek therapy or a therapist to talk to. that's the first step to really getting better.
6) don't be afraid to go on medicine. medicine can REALLY help. some side effects might be scary, but its worth it if it can make a difference. some anxiety is caused by a chemical imbalance in your brian and medicine will help that.
**be careful when you are prescribed xanax, ativan or any other short term anxiety medicine. it is VERY addicting, but it can be very helpful when you use it as needed**
7) have faith that you will get better. millions of people have anxiety and you are not alone. what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!
i hope this helped. email me if you would like to talk, id love to talk to anyone

Things I found most helpful:
You MUST learn to control your mind, when you are depressed/anxious and you let your mind go on auto it pulls nothing but bad, depressing, guilty thoughts and memories. Read this web site http://counsellingresource.com/quizzes/emotional-memory/index.html and does nothing but make you WORSE.
and do the first part of this form
http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/docs/GAD-5_Positive-Beliefs.pdf
You must learn to control your thoughts and let go of the worry. Best wishes.
I have also started a very mild anti anxiety med (2.5mg Librax, usually issues for stomach problems) and finally saw a therapist who will help me "master my mind". I nearly had another episode at the thought of seeing a therapist and even when I was about to go to my first session, but the hit to your pride is such a small price to pay for the benefits of guidance from someone who is so familiar with this stuff.
TALK about your experience to a trusted friend/family member, or write it down, both in GREAT DETAIL, the more you think about it the less sensitive you get to it, and eventually it won't bother you at all. Do this at first in a comfortable environment. It can be hard at first but hang in there! Just like doing curls with your arm, its hard at first but your bicep gets stronger and eventually its no problem to curl a large amount of weight.
Oh yes PRAY for healing, if you are religious.
I am typing this from the very chair and desk where it first happened.
BEST WISHES !

2) Avoids conversations and eye contact with others, often crossing the street to avoid others.
3) Forgets words and have problems expressing myself in conversations.
4) Feel more at ease when alone, Having no friends helps me avoid social contact.
5) Hate to talk on the phone, especially to people I don't know and even my own family.
I currently take Vyvanse 70mg for ADD and just started clonazepam .5mg twice daily today and I seem more relaxed. I could sure use help dealing with this.View Thread

We've put detailed instructions on this on my website's Self-Help page just under the Guided Imagery.
Use it whenever you feel the need to get a bit of relaxation. It works very well because you can't be anxious and relaxed at the same time and this technique uses that idea very well.View Thread
Valium consumption was around 80mg a day to get relief. Not healthy at all but when you are out of options and you are loosing your mind it sounds like a good ideal.
I changed to klonopin and take about 2mg a day with some to spare for the bad days. Sometimes I may not have to take any at all.
Antihistamines can be used to calm the nerves, exercise, meditation, even just breathing in deeply can help. Try the above before you reach for the big guns like benzos. Sometimes you may have to trade addiction for normality but before you do try a non drug therapy to see if it helps.View Thread
