My daughter woke up in the middle of the night on Saturday gasping for air. She had not been sick at all prior to this. She couldnt even call for help. I grabbed her out of bed and she started vomiting. I turned the nebulizer on and gave her albuterol through the nebulizer. I am a nurse and listened to her lungs and she was barely passing any air. At this point we called 911. Her pulse ox was 87% when the ambulance arrived so they gave her O2 and another albuterol. At the hospital she had more albuterol and race mic epinephrine and they did a lung and soft tissue X-ray of the neck. Her airway Ws severely swollen but she improved with treatment. The sent us home on her normal routine of flovent daily and claritin daily. She is seen by a children's allergy doctor and we are debating on adding pulmonology.
I am terrified that this may happen again and what if I didn't hear her that night or don't hear her the next time. Right now I am sleeping in her bed and looking for better solutions. We are going to get a Video baby monitor but also interested a home pulse ox machine.
Any advice or tips would be helpful!
