I'm at a loss. I was diagnosed with asthma after 6 weeks of bronchitis but was told that I had asthma for 8 years without knowing due to sinus infections and bronchitis. I do not wheeze but have hard time breathing when I have an attack. I have a persistent cough for 4 months that is not going away. It has me so depressed and restricted. Cold weather and odors are factors that causes my cough to increase. Sinus infection triggered my last attack. I just want to get better as it has been a tough 4 months ongoing.
I think you guys are the only ones that can relate to the way I feel. I got sick in Jan with a cold that turned into bronchitis. After 6 weeks the doctor diagnosis changed to asthma. I have been dealing with this for 4 months and counting.
My asthma is irritated by the weather(cold). I travel for work to cold climates and had an asthma attack. I live in the south where it is warmer. I am on a no travel until further notice.
The worst part is this everlasting cough. I am on all the meds; dulera, albuterol, nebulizer, predinose, coughing med, nexium. It is so embarrassing. I can't speak without coughing. I can't sit, lay down, walk or anything without coughing. My throat is in constant pain. I have no desire to do anything. I work from home and I can't have conference calls without coughing. This cough has me sore and weak.
I seen the ENT specialist which stated that there isn't any blockage in my throat. It is just my asthma. I also have a great Asthma specialist that I just began to see. I am feeling depressed as it so frustrating. Family and friends are supportive but they don't know how it feels.
Has anyone else experience a hacking cough due to asthma? Please give me some advice. I try not to cry because I don't want to have an attack.
