I went to Urgent Care because I thought that I had a lung infection or even pneumonia. I had a headache, felt like I had a head cold, runny nose, coughing up thick phlegm, shortness of breath, and my lungs hurt even if I was just walking, sometimes they hurt each time I took a breath. The Dr. listened to my lungs, looked in my ears and mouth, told me that I had no fever, then she determined it was Bronchitis. I wish I would have asked her to do an X-ray. Ive had pneumonia before and it felt like that is what I have.
For those of you who have had bronchitis, what meds did they put you on? The Dr. had me take three days worth of an antibiotics, 5 days of steroids and told me to take over the counter musinex. Is this enough to wipe out Bronchitis? Also, should I be resting in bed? I got absolutely no instructions as to what I was supposed to do, besides taking some meds.
Hello again. Perhaps you should keep a daily journal. Write down everything you eat or drink, any medication that you take that isn't your normal meds., any stress you are feeling, any extra exercise like going for a walk or shopping, any cleaning products that you use that day, change of soaps or shampoo, etc. Then maybe you can find what is causing these symptoms. Just an idea. Take care.View Thread
I'm so sorry to hear that your having asthma problems. Its very scarey not being able to breath. I have asthma problems all the time. I've take prednisone when ever I have asthma problems that don't go away with in a weeks time. Most of the time the Prednisone will wipe out the asthma and I will feel better but sometimes it doesn't work. So I must go back to the Dr.s.
Each person is different. After taking prednisone some ppl will feel better right away and others won't. If you are still having asthma problems after taking Prednisone then I suggest going to your family Dr.s and perhaps even seeing a Pulmonologist. Asthma is nothing to play around with. You don't need to suffer. Asthma can be managed but like I said, each person is different.
Also I would like to mention one other thing. I suffer from anxiety and I take Lorazepam when I have an anxiety attack. I have noticed that Lorazepam also helps my asthma. When My asthma won't react correctly to my asthma medicine then I take a Lorazepam tablet and it helps me.
Take care of yourself, stay inside if there is an air pollution warning, do breathing treatments if you have a machine, take your puffer when needed, drink some Breath Easy Tea and breath some steam. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon. View Thread
Hello Tgunner, I'm not a Dr. so I can't diagnose you but I can give you my opinion. You may be suffering from more than one thing. It could be a combination of things. Do you have allergies? Allergies could cause drainage in the back of your throat and could settle on the top of your lungs which could cause coughing. Allergies would explain why you feel like you have a cold when you wake up in the morning. Also you said that you are having burning in your chest area. Could this be acid reflux? If you do have acid reflux, at night when your sleeping the acid and food in your stomach can come up into your throat and also settle on the top of your lungs which would cause coughing. Acid reflux could also explain the burning you are feeling in your chest. You also said that you have severe anxiety. I have anxiety attacks too. Anxiety can cause tension, tension can cause the tight feeling that your having in your chest. So there are so many different health issues that could be causing your symptoms.
Please don't think that I'm diagnosing you. I'm only saying that it could be a number of these things or none of these things that I have suggested. The only way to know for sure would be to see a specialist. I would start off by seeing a good Pulmonologist and go from there.
I found this on accident. I have anxiety attacks so my Pdoc gave me Lorazepam . I don't take it everyday, only as needed. I found that Lorazepam helps when I'm having asthma issues. So when all my other treatments fail, I take a Lorazepam and after about 30 min.s I can breath again.
Perhaps your Dr. will give you a few and let you try it. I hope it helps.View Thread
Thats what Im going through. I will have those days when Im doing so much better (not completely, but much better) and then the very next day Im having problems again.
Yesterday I went to CVS and I bought all kinds of meds. hoping to find something that would help me, just a bit. I bought a different allergy pill to try, I found some menthol rings to go into my steamer and also a nose spray. It has been impossible to eat like a decent human because I couldnt breath out of my nose. So I had to eat with my mouth open just so I could breath. Not attractive. The nose spray opened my nose up so good. OMG, I was actually able to breath out of my nose for a change.
My Dr. has called in a referral to an allergist and Im going to call him and make an apt. as soon as they have one available.
As for support, I count myself very very lucky to have so many supportive ppl that I can turn to. My hubby is so wonderful and understanding. We have been married for 11 yrs and he has put up with all my health issues. I also have a tdoc and I have been a member on the WebMD Bipolar Support Board for about 4 yrs, so I have many friends there who are supportive and now I have this board and all the wonderful ppl here.
Thank you for all the help and support. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.View Thread
yyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh for you hun. I really hope your allergist can help you.
I dont take Ibprophen or asprin, but I do take Methocarbamol (muscle relaxer. Not sure if its an NSAID), Hydrocodone and Tramadol. Hydrocodone causes problems with my breathing, but unfortunately my chronic back and neck pain gets so painful, that I have to take it. Its the only med. that helps when the pain is at its worse.
It seems like lately that each of my health issues can cause problems with each other. I cant walk around the block because of my asthma, but my back specialist wants me to walk to help with my back, I keep having probs with YI, so my Gyno wants me to eat yogurt which causes phlem, when Im put on steroids to help my asthma it causes YI. LOL. I just cant win. uuugggghhh Oh well, at least I can laugh about it some times.
Im so very glad to hear that your asthma is under control. Oh I envy you so much. I really wish I had your Dr.
I see ppl on tv comercials, movies or even pictures of ppl in magss, running and having a fab. time and it depresses me. Ive had such a hard time these last 4 years or so with health issues. I have chronic back and neck pain that the Dr.s cant fix, now my asthma is out of control and being that Im Bipolar, my emotions can go down hill real fast.
Thanks to this support board and wonderful, caring ppl such as yourself, you have given me hope that there is help for me. View Thread
