I had my 38w (a few days early) appointment yesterday. Everything is going pretty well. I'm still swelling, but the good news is that my BP seems to have stablized. This week it was right at 120/80. I gained back one pound out of two that I had lost last week. Little girl's HB was at 138 BPM. I'm still dilated to a 2 and effaced 50%, so I haven't made any more progress.
The only bad news we got at this appointment was that this little girl is no longer engaged in my pelvis. She was fully engaged last week and is now at a -2 station. My OB said that it was normal for them to "bob" around in there. She said that more than likely, I just didn't have enough contractions this week to keep her down. So hopefully by next week, she will be engaged again.
My OB asked me again about being induced in the 39th week. I told her that I wasn't feeling very comfortable with the thought of it and explained why. She said that it's normal to fear the unknown and explained a little more about the process to me. She told me to come to my next week's appointment and see how I feel. If I'm miserable and want to be induced, we will schedule it. If not, we will schedule my 40 week appointment. They absolutely will not let me go into my 41st week, so I will be induced no later than the 13th (if this LO doesn't come by then).
Sorry this got so long. I hope that everybody has a wonderful weekend!View Thread
- My BP was in normal range for me!
- I gained 2 1/2 lbs in 4 weeks which is good!
- Baby is head down and hopefully will stay that way!
- His HB was in the 140s!
So now I am set up with weekly appointments until the big day! Very exciting!View Thread

Also, take all the baby stuff that you can. My nurses always loaded me up w/diapers, blankets, newborn shirts and esp. FORMULA. Even if you plan on BF.....TAKE THE FORMULA. You never know if you will need to supplement or what will happen. They give you these great little bottles w/throw away nipples. They are fabulous and expensive too if you try and reorder online. So take the freebies.
This is the one that I am most adamanant about......if you have a long delivery, leave your baby in the nursery the first night. Trust me....you are going to have a life time w/your child. Rest up!!!! This will help you emotionally get through the next couple of weeks. The hossy's really want you to leave the baby in your room these days...which is great, BUT you need to recoup!! My OB always supports this because the mother needs time to rest.
Please add any advice you may have or heard!!!View Thread

Seen the OB for an NST on yesterday...NST was good and had the GBS swab. Wasn't that bad. The OB wants to induce me within the next two weeks (high blood sugars). The Peri has to give the "okay" and to set up the amnio before induction. I really don't know about having the amnio. If they want to induce me this week, then yes, BUT next week I think I will decline. We'll see what the Peri says on Friday.
My goals - Since I'm not having alot of contrax, I think I'm going to try and swim or take a stroll in the evening to get my BS down. I'm taking the kids to get them a gift for them, when the baby is born and hopefully will get an induction date by the end of the week.
Hugs to all!!!!View Thread

Long: So I went in on Monday morning for the amnio and a NST. She passed the NST with flying colors. Then when they went to look for fluid there was only one small pocket....not enough to do the amnio. SO into the hospital we go. They started the Pitocin and around 7 pm the Dr. checked me and it hadn't done anything to my cervix. I was at a 2. So he went in and broke my water and boy oh boy! the contractions started! I went without any pain meds for about an hour and a half and they came in and said " we have to turn down the pitocin cause the contractions are too close and too intense". At that point, I threw in the towel! I asked for the epidural. The doc checked me again and said well your still only a 2! WHAT?! whatever, I already had the anethesiologist on call paged so I went ahead and go the epidural. During the epidural my blood pressure dropped and so did babies heart rate. So they (docs came from every orifice) swarmed teh room and I had oxygen on and another IV in before I knew it. Well, the heartrate came back up after a minute and she was doing fine. The epidural was FANTASTIC! I slept and watched TV with DH till about midnight and then the nurse came in and said the baby wasn't tolerating labor and we had to do the C-Section. The strip showed every contraction, her heartrate dropped. So we had a C-Section!
Baby was 36 weeks so they were concerned about lung maturity but the NICU staff was there and she had no problem breathing on her own. They took her to the regular nursery while they closed up surgery. Well my uterus didn't want to cooperate so they were in there for about 30 min. Later I found out that I had a boggy uterus that didn't want to contract and the placenta had a pie shaped portion of dead tissue in it. They think that is why the amniotic fluid dropped! I had no other symptoms of an "infarct" of the placenta such as heavy bleeding ect.
Baby did have a few problems feeding at first and because I am on seizure precautions for the pre-e I can't breast feed until tomorrow morning. So she has been getting formula which I hope doesn't present a problem.......which it probably will. The nurses here are very BF focused though so who knows. I will try for the first time tomorrow morning. She is fine feeding now and is rooming in with us rather than in the nursery!View Thread

BUT, my Peri is such a crackhead.........I had an appt yesterday and Madi Grace is doing great. Passed BPP w/flying colors and she is weighing in at 6lbs 6oz (THANK YOU LORD). I told him that the OB said that IF I haven't went into labor in the next 2 wks he was going to induce. The Peri said that IF the OB tries to induce me before 38wks 4 days he is going to require an amnio to check lung function. IS THAT NOT WHY I AM HAVING TWICE WEEKLY APPTS??? I mean I can understand if I was like 33-36 wks, but 37 wks and 4 days (I think) shouldn't be a prob. I was induced w/DS at 36 and 38 for DD. I'm not going to "chance" having an amnio this late. I think it is NOT needed.
I'm just sooooo over it. I just wished they would both get together and decide. UGH....lol. (I can laugh at myself...lol).View Thread

Hopefully, not too soon. Things have been exhausting here. Charlie wants to be held all night . . . so I don't sleep. It has been pretty brutal. Last night she slept 2.5 hrs straight, which was heavenly. The 2 nights before we never slept . . . and with Rylie, it is hard to get caught up during the day. Charlie had an appt Wednesday. She weighed 6lb7oz. They were worried about her weight, so we went back today with a goal of 2 oz gained. She gained exactly 2 oz so she passed!!
I also got my staples out today. Hopefully that will make things better. My stomach has been really sore, but it's all worth it of course! Anyway, I'm so thrilled this will be turning into a parenting board!!
For my birth story . . . Last Friday I had an appt at 10:30. I had been having LOTS of contractions and pretty miserable. My dr checked me and I was 100% effaced and 6 cm dilated. She was engaged and my dr asked if I wanted to have a baby today (I was having a repeat c-section). I went home to get my bag and DH and take Rylie to my parents, shower, and headed back to hospital. They got me on the iv and were waiting for the operating room to open up. My contractions were 2 minutes apart, so she was coming! I was on the verge of needing an epidural, 9cm dilated when the room opened. This time was supposed to be easier with a planned c-section. No labor . . . Charlie had her own plan this entire time!! She was determined to give me the labor experience. Anyway, surgery went well. She was born at 4:25pm and was perfect. Charlie never had to go to NICU. I was incredibly sore, but sooo happy to have her on the outside!!
They still judge her by gestational age since she was premature. That's new . . . but she's doing GREAT!! The girls birthdays are 3 weeks 1 day apart, so we will do a big party in the middle for both every year. As of now, I'm trying to get sleep and then we can gear up for Rylie's 2nd birthday, which is the 31st. I hope you all are doing well and should be on more frequently. August is so close now . . . it will be so exciting have more of these little ones arriving.

I had a doctor appointment today. I'm at 36w5d. I'll be term on Sunday (whoo hoo!!!)
I lost 2 pounds this week. Bringing me to a total of 20 lbs gained this pregnancy. My blood pressure was high again and in this record heat wave, my legs and feet are swelling terrible. Other than that, everything is great. Little girl's heart rate was 138 BPM. She is head down and fully engaged in my pelvis. I'm dialted to a 2 and effaced 50%. Here is where I need some help... My OB strongly suggests that I be induced at 39 weeks. Mostly because of the swelling and BP issues. It's not severe enough to make a big difference, but my OB said especially in the heat, she recommends it. She also said that at 39 weeks, she has never had an induction that needed to be a c-section due to the labor not progressing. She has a 100% success rate. So, what would you ladies do if you were in my situation?
I was hoping to go into labor on my own. I have heard that inductions cause more painful contrax? I'm just curious to get some opinions or if anybody who has been induced could share their story, I would really appreciate it. DH and I are going to talk more about it, but my OB wants my decision at my next appointment.
TIA!View Thread
Here's what I've noticed~
Slightly increased swelling in hands and feet
Increased fatigue
More general mild crampy feelings (not in waves but kinda consistent)
(TMI) Increased bowel movements, which are now kinda loose
BHCs every once in a while
Increased heartburn
Increased appetite
TIA : )View Thread

Well, I've wrote enough about my crazy week...lol. My contrax are not too consistent, so I went from being sure I was having Madi now to prolly not...lol. Anywho, other than that, just taking it easy. Just excited for all of our new Mommies and my cuz (OhBabyTaylor) is in the hossy having her little boy now. Whoowoot!!!
Goals....well, everything (I pray) is done. Room ready, clothing washed, bottles and paci's sterlized. Enough diapers and wipes for the first month. Bags packed....wait...I need to install the carseat and that's it (well DH does). Rest...rest and more rest!!!
Hugs to all!!!View Thread

I looked like someone beat me up! Anyway the NST looked good....my bp was up a little at first then they had my lay all the way on my left side and retook it and it was NORMAL! 120/82! So they sent me home with a 24 hour urine slip wooohooo
and a follow up on Thursday! Next week is def the week if I make it with no more Pre-E symptoms....my family is so excited and so am I but I am SCARED! Mostly cause this is our first and labor and having a baby being early especially...View Thread
SO I went today for my NST, API and BPP. I got there and my BP was high so they tried with a different cuff. Still high so they said well lets let you lay down for a bit with the NST monitor on and see after that. So I layed with the NST on for about an HOUR (holy cow it was forever) and Jorja passed with flying colors. She was a bit sleepy at first but woke up. After the NST, my BP came down a bit.
Then we went in for the amniotic fluid ultrasound. The tech couldn't find any!!!! So they did a growth us instead and Jorja is 5lbs 14 oz. right at 50%. Then she must have peed cause all of a sudden there was some fluid. The tech usually tells me the measurement but didnt and said doc would be in to look. In comes the doc and says the fluid is at 6.6 which is lower than we were at but still managable so they want to check my cervix. I am 1cm dilated and 50 % effaced.
My 24 hour urine came back with some protein, which could mean 3 things: 1.) pre-e, 2.) underlying kidney problems related to my diabetes (16 years being diabetic) 3.) not enough fluid urinated which could skew the results. So I go back tomorrow for another NST and they redrew the labs today to make sure it wasn't a lab error.
All in all....I will be delivering either later this week or next monday. They want to deliver before anything gets worse, which is fine by me cause I am already freaked something is wrong.
Thanks for reading.....it was long but man I had a long day! Hopefully we can make it till next monday and I will be 36 weeks!View Thread
I'm going to try to post some pictures. Rylie is doing great with her . . . So much fun!! I will be on again tomorrow and have time to get updated on everything. Thanks again for the amazing support!View Thread

I went into the hospital on Thursday after my Dr found protein in my urine at my regular appointment that morning. He diagnosed me with mild pre-e and was planning on sending me home Friday afternoon until I mentioned that I had an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. With that new symptom he changed the diagnosed me with severe pre-e and decided it would be best for me to deliver my little girl. She was born via c-section later that day.
It was pretty scary at first and the next BP reading they took after telling me that went sky-high. I managed to relax enough that my BP came back down a bit. The discomfort I had was pretty mild so I was afraid that I'd made a big deal out of nothing until the nurse told me that shortly after making the decision to deliver the results on my 24 urine protein test came back and that if I had gone home they would have been calling me to come back in.
Little Jocelyn came out perfectly healthy, even though she was a month early and a little on the small side. She didn't have to spend any time in the NICU, thank God!!! Since delivering my BP has been much better and so far the recovery process from the c/s hasn't been as bad as I anticipated.
Thanks for all the prayers over the last few days ladies. I've definitely seen God's hands in how everything went down.View Thread
