My Story:
I had spinal fusion in the lumbar area for Scoliosis when I was 13 yrs. old. I finished school, married and had two children. I had Harrington Rod implants done 26 yrs. ago because the Scoliosis had severly progressed. The rods are from T5 to L3. About 6 yrs. ago I started having excruciating pain in my lower back and burning/tingling in my right thigh. I've been to numerious Dr's., Minimally Invasive Clinic, Chiropractor and Pain Managment with no relief. About a month ago I did some heavy cleaning and since then my back pain is worse and I've now developed Sciatica. Usually a shot of Cortisone in the hip or a dose-pak of prednisone will calm it down but not this time. I saw an Orthopedic Surgeon This past Tues. and he said he could tie onto the rods that are now in place and go down to the pelvic area with more rods and screws and decompress around the nerves. I haven't decided yet whether to have the surgery or not. If the nerve pain doesn't get any better I don't think I will have a choice.
