a recent MRI (oct 2012) showed I had a severe Ruptured of the L5-S1.
I have had numbness from waist down - off and on for the past 45 years, including pain. In 2003 - 2 Neuro-surgeons said I would never be a canidate for surgery due to the way the nerve/nerve sac was in my lower spine. With surgery it was a 110 % and without 75% chance that it would paralyze me. I can live with that.
Since this disc has ruptured, my primary sent me to a neuro-surgeon who is gung ho on doing surgery - removing disc and replacing it with rods and screws. I don't even think he paid any mind to what I told him to my last several years what i've dealt with.
Admits I 'm terrified,.
Right now, i'm not having any pain, though past few weeks from point of rupture - pain comes and goes, some days are i want to bite nails and other times, i don't have pain or if I do, its tolerable .
I live with pain 24/7 due to arthritis but also for last several years with my lower back. I'm on perocet - 7.5 and soma 325 mg. it works at times and others again it doesn't. but this surgery looming over my head isn't helping any, guess cause the 2003 diagnois.
