I found what seems to be an error in WebMD's tips on exercise for lower back pain. It says to work on back muscles but not on stomach muscles. I was instructed by doctors to do the opposite. The strengthening of back muscles only leads to more pain since the same muscles being strengthened by normal work and routine are the ones being strengthened in WebMD's tips, while strengthening stomach muscles will counter-act the back muscles and therefore relieve the pain!
