Hey everyone Im having the worst time getting effective pain management. Ive been telling my Dr (PCP) who perscribes my meds for the last year that its no longer working like it had in the past. I dont know if i can list the meds im taking here but ive been taking them for two and a half years. I know there is better pain medication out there well at least better for my overall health i dont know if it would be better for my pain but the general concensus is that it would be. Now my biggest question really is if im upset about the situation,as I am, and i show that then just the fact off me getting my point accross or pleading my case also puts me in the same boat as drug seeking patients. Ive even come right out and said "do you see me as a drug seeker". He assured me he didnt see me in that way which must be true because he still writes narcotic pain meds every month or maybe he does and im an idiot. Me and my wife have both been in his office in tears telling him how my constant pain is destroying everything in my life. Still no results as far as new meds or n e new pain management technique. One thing i should mention is that i have to go to the va hospital cause its all we can afford and im a veteran. They tell me there is no pain management clinic there that the doctors take care of it with slow acting and quick release pain meds which ive been on. For those wondering whats my problem i was in a very bad car wreck and broke my back and neck ive had three surgeries one back and two neck. Three and a half inch rods in lumber area and rods and pins and screws and plates for three fusions in neck. Im looking for n e advice i can get now cause i didnt order my pain meds this month cause i go see my doctor next week on the same day they would mail em to me n e way. If i did order them maybe he would say if they dont work why do you keep taking them to which I would say because you guys have been telling me for two years this is the best we can do.They do work a little but not enough that im not still suffering. This is such a catch twenty-two i dont know what to do or say n e more cause ive tried the truth and that has got me nowhere. Im sure alot of people are gonna say switch doctors but at the veterans hospital they choose for you and it would take three months or longer for me to get back in to an appointment. And honestly i like my doctor i do believe that he cares, or maybe im an idiot...again!
