I'm back. I have seen a new MD who wants to do cervical spinal epidural injection into my neck. He reviewed MRI with and without contrast. Shows spondylosis(degeneration of spine) in C3-C4 and C5-C6 also mild to moderate disc degeneration in C6-C7. Along with that mild fraying of articular surface of supraspinatus tendon. So he says he is not sure how many injections because of my history with this pain. He gave me Lyrica for time being. It doesn't do much but take a little of the edge off. Just typing this I have tingling going down my arm and throbbing in my shoulder area. Occassionally like a shock wave in my neck if I've been in same position for to long. Any advice....View Thread
Yes I am familiar with neuropathy. My dr. said it might take more than one injection and that I could be in more pain in the beginning. I only take it at night. It's a 15 day pack and each day the dosage increases. Up to 1200 right now. I go back to dr end of the month. I'll keep you posted.View Thread
Had my first injection. It wasn't bad. Go back in two weeks for evaluation of injection. Was in pain last night. I've been writing down my pain levels to report back to doctor. He gave me gralise to take at night.View Thread
Thanks Joy. I plan on calling back on Monday. When I made the appt the receptionist said he didn't think he would give me anything until after procedure. I applied heat last nite to alleviate some of the pain. I will keep you posted.
Hi he is a nerve pain doctor. My third opinion. I was given Lyrica for the pain. Only 100mg at night. I does absolutely nothing but make me tired. I have scheduled the injection for this month. Praying it helps because this pain is getting worse. Heat helps my shoulder.
New to group. I've been diagnosed with pinched nerve and herniated disc. MD wants to due surgery I am against it. I've done research. I have tried muscle relaxers prior as well as PT. I had a MRI, steroid injections the whole list. Yes surgery is my last option but I will try anything else before going that route. I had the nerve test also. I currently have the TENS machine at home. The pain has gotten worse. Now more in my neck. It started as my shoulder then down to my left arm and tingling in my hands. I have dropped a mug due to loss of feeling in my hand. I use heat application at home. Making another appt to further investiagte other options. Just don't want surgery if I can try something else.View Thread
Yes I am aware the nerve pain is different in my neck and back. Sorry I forgot to meantion I am an LPN!!!! I am familiar with Gabapentin. Not as familiar with Lyrica though. Sorry you are dealing with your pain as well. Yes I will be calling my MD tomorrow. I have a good relationship with my PCP. Take care, RonettaView Thread
No specific question just trying to find a medication that will work. I have tried soma, skelaxin, flexeril, and tramadol. Also the patches. All short term. Just want something that works. This pain is so much at times. It's radiating down my arm. My neck is throbbing. What are some meds that have worked for others?View Thread
I saw my PCP first then a neurosurgeon then a orthopedic specialist. The problem is C-5 and C-6 in my neck. Then travels down the left arm into hand. The nerve test showed damage in neck area that is why I had a second MRI with dye contrast. Went to pain MD who was giving me the injections they would work for a few days then stop. Went back to Ortho MD who suggested the surgery. Has anybody tried Loritabs?
