Hi my Name is Matt,I am 19 years old and have experienced a dull ache in my right arm, between my shoulder and elbow for the past 3 years.
It has caused me to loose almost any strength endurance in my right arm. Simple tasks like carrying shopping ,lifting items into cupboards have become very painful and can only be sustained for short periods of time. After using my right arm ,hours after the muscles in my right pectorals and right biceps will tighten up and need stretching out.
I have tried to get medical help over the past 3 years , but until October 2012 where I saw an Osteopath was it brought to my attention that it could be a trapped nerve. Until then I have had diagnosis from Doctors and other Osteopaths that it could be a simple muscle tear in my Bicep ,Tricep or Deltoid ,however after months of resting, ice-ing and compression I had no signs of improvement.
I had asked on numerous occasions for an MRI scan, however, told everytime I have too good movement in my arm and shoulder joints.
Since visiting the osteopath I have had serval deep tissue massages and adjustments made in my back and neck, but after several sessions I have seen no improvement.
After being told it may be a trapped nerve in my neck I have noticed that the right side of my neck is very tight when tilting head towards my left shoulder. I have also starting stretching my neck daily , Starting sleeping with only 1 pillow at night , Taking magnesium supplements, done exercises to strengthen my back muscles to pull my shoulders back and improve posture but also seen no improvements.
I have subsequently this year had an X-ray on my neck ,but it showed no abnormalities and as a last resort have had around 6-9 sessions with both Normal and Mctinomey Chiropractors to try and solve the problem.
Unfortunately none of this appears to be hitting the route of the problem and recently I have even started to feel a similar sensation in my right leg, which I think may be due to my back compensating for my weak arm which is pulling muscles out of place and causing my hips to rotate.
So my whole right side is now almost redundant.
I was previously a keen sports person competing at both swimming and football(soccer) but both have had to stop completely now due to the pain or lack of endurance in my muscles.
Any help or tips would be gratefully received as this has now become a very depressing problem which is stopping me living my life normally.View Thread
