I was in a rear ended car accident in October 21, 2008. I only felt stiffness on my neck and shoulders. In December 2008, I started to have back pain and the pain increased to the point I could not walk and sleep. Then I felt numbness and sharp pain radiating down my leg. I finally got a diagnose that I have herniated disc on L4/5 S1 in May 2010.
Is it possible that people don't feel the pain right away after the car accident, but the pain appears months after the accident? Can an injury such car accident contribute to a herniated disc? What is the different between "Mechanical back pain" and "Discogenic back pain"?
I did not have serious back pain before the accident. My car was damaged and it costed close to $1000 of repairment. My life is totally changed now. I can't sit over half an hour even I already have a discectomy surgery.View Thread
Thank you for your reply. I just frustrated that my family doctor always said just a soft tissue injury and did not send me to get the MRI sooner. I don't have serious backpain before car accident and now my left foot is numb and cold all the time. The neurologist said I will be like that even after a discectomy because the nerve is damaged.
I just wonder why other people feel the pain right away. But for me, my back pain was delayed until a month later. Is it because the medicine I took for rheumatoid arthritis.
