I guess you saw your Doc yesterday. Is there anything new? I hate to see you and the others in chronic pain. I certainly understand.
The problem is I don't know what is causing the most pain. I went twice a week to a pelvic floor specialist for the last month. I suffered so much I have stopped the thereapy. Therapist said there are several things going on with me. SI dysfuntion wow you are right ladies----it does hurt like ****. I also have a sacrum which does not move at all. (It is suppose to move slightly, but necessary for comfortable sitting). I also have pudental neuralgia, as well as pain in the piriformus muscle itself. She said the muscle she is able to feel feels like it is dead. What? she said it was like when your hand goes to sleep and you feel it with the other hand and it feels dead! It is kinda like that...The muscle needs to be stretched so the blood can flow into the muscles. I also have DDD, so all of it together, I don't think I will ever get better enough to sit for more than minutes. I can work on stetching the muscle myself. I also have an SI belt which I have had for a long time, but since I ordered it on the internet I was unsure where to wear it. She was able to answer my questions for me, and we parted ways.
My wish for you all is help for pain free life.View Thread

I was at the gastro guy and he wants to do a colonoscopy which will be carried out on the 12th of December. He feels the spot is not an abcess, but a possible tumor or a polyp. I guess anything wrong will be taken care of then. Here's hoping.
Davedsel57, I was a little scared about the possibility of many things that I thought about before I saw the gastroenterologist.
Somtimes a little knowledge is dangerous. I sometimes have to watch reading too much about conditions because so many have similar symptoms. Thanks to all who contributed to this discussion.View Thread

I was treating with a doctor a while ago. He did not do a test that I am aware of, but he did refuse to do surgery unless the patient refrained from smoking for three months.
He said he found out a patient had not stopped smoking and released her from the hospital refusing to do surgery.
As David said physicians are within their rights to refuse to perform surgery if he/she has been asked to stop smoking and the patient has not. He fully believes healing will be much better with a non-smoker.View Thread

Thanks for the suggestions you all have given.View Thread

October 2011 I finally found the right doctor and had the surgery. I knew the healing time would be long, but what did I have to loose? In May 2012 my husband and I were in the parking lot of a shuttle bus co. when we were involved in an auto accident and first me then my husband were thrown to the floor. I was not able to get up and was taken to the nearby hospital ER. I was okay except for the pain in the butt! The rectum about an inch from the anus is swollen so much I am uncomfortable ablout 24-7. Does anyone know what I should do and what type of doctor I should see. Is there a doctor here who I might pose that question to. I am very, very miserable and the only thing that works for me is a BC or Goody's powder and lie down. Sitting hurts worse and lying down until the pain goes down enough to get half way comfortable. Mornings are best, but even then I hurt earlier and earlier in the day. Please offer any advise you may have. It will be very much appreciated. ThanksView Thread

I remember when I first started Neurontin (Gabapentin). I felt so loopy that I called the doc's office. She asked me if I felt drunk? I told her it was like I was in a cloud floating around. She told me that that would pass and it did. Everyone apparently has a different way to express the feeling the early days on these medications make them feel. I have spoken to many people all of whom speak of the symptoms you describe.
I think physicians all should explain to patients that pesky side effect when it is prescribed. It obviously was enough that you completly stopped taking it. It is a valuable drug with great results. People should know what can result in the early days. I I am sure this is all mentioned in the paperwork that is given when these medications are picked up at the pharmacy, but it still should behoove the docs to mention this to each patient when prescribed.View Thread

I do not believe in frivolous lawsuits but this action seems to qualify for legal council.
I look forward to reading that you have healed from this procedure as soon as you are able to post. By best wishes for you.View Thread
