Thanks again for your help.View Thread

October 2011 I finally found the right doctor and had the surgery. I knew the healing time would be long, but what did I have to loose? In May 2012 my husband and I were in the parking lot of a shuttle bus co. when we were involved in an auto accident and first me then my husband were thrown to the floor. I was not able to get up and was taken to the nearby hospital ER. I was okay except for the pain in the butt! The rectum about an inch from the anus is swollen so much I am uncomfortable ablout 24-7. Does anyone know what I should do and what type of doctor I should see. Is there a doctor here who I might pose that question to. I am very, very miserable and the only thing that works for me is a BC or Goody's powder and lie down. Sitting hurts worse and lying down until the pain goes down enough to get half way comfortable. Mornings are best, but even then I hurt earlier and earlier in the day. Please offer any advise you may have. It will be very much appreciated. ThanksView Thread

I remember when I first started Neurontin (Gabapentin). I felt so loopy that I called the doc's office. She asked me if I felt drunk? I told her it was like I was in a cloud floating around. She told me that that would pass and it did. Everyone apparently has a different way to express the feeling the early days on these medications make them feel. I have spoken to many people all of whom speak of the symptoms you describe.
I think physicians all should explain to patients that pesky side effect when it is prescribed. It obviously was enough that you completly stopped taking it. It is a valuable drug with great results. People should know what can result in the early days. I I am sure this is all mentioned in the paperwork that is given when these medications are picked up at the pharmacy, but it still should behoove the docs to mention this to each patient when prescribed.View Thread

I do not believe in frivolous lawsuits but this action seems to qualify for legal council.
I look forward to reading that you have healed from this procedure as soon as you are able to post. By best wishes for you.View Thread

Please be advised that each fall causes problems to develop.
Back discs are of often worn down from degenerative disc desease, as well as other things. Some bulging is likely as we age.
I think I have a balance problem. Have you thought of that? Maybe some of the medication you are taking? I do believe everyone will tell you to try everything before you consent to another back surgery.View Thread

The hydrocodone is an opiod med. Tramadol is the weaker of the pain meds you are taking. Don't take hydrocodone unless you must. The Lyrica is used for nerve pain. So is neurontin. I still take neurontin a couple of times a day.
I hope this helps. I will check back to see whether you are able to use any of the help I have given. Good luck in your quest for help.View Thread

Finally my husband drove me to discuss options with the physician. He admitted that my coccyx was not responding for years to conservative treatment, and surgery to remove it might be my only option.
Please give me some more information if you can. I will be more than happy to help you. Believe me, I went through pure hell until after I healed from the surgery. The healing can be a very slow process, but I have never been sorry I had the surgery.

I would say your wound looks bad! I realize it has been 3 days since you posted, so what have you found out? I would run, not walk, to someone I trust to check you out. I have never seen nor heard of anything like this. Please let us know what is going on.View Thread
