You may want to further speak with your doctor about what the brace will/won't do for you.
I had L3-S1 fused and was put in a brace at all times I was OUT of bed for about two months. I think I was given a very restrictive brace(turtle shell) to slow me down. I know the day the doctor said I could start weaning myself off the brace in a few weeks, I left the appointment, returned to my car and took the thing off throwing it in the trunk. Not the best idea.
Talk further to your doctor. Are you likely to do what he says or ore you likely to push your healing and try to do things faster than you should?
A PT can recommend a med but cannot usually prescribe it. If the PT has suggested something, it may be worth discussing with your doctor. The PT may have had experience with other patients who have had success with the med in a similar situation.View Thread
Thanks for posting this Tim. I know you have a lot of challenges but your closing remark means so much. And I have read a lot about those girls you are sooo proud of.... I look forward to reading more.
I am sorry to hear of your situation. Unfortunately the Terms and conditions of Web MD forbid us from recommending or naming doctors. You may want to check with your insurance company or local teaching hospital to see if they have any thoughts.
I thought I was going nuts. Some days my feet are more "annoyed" than others. Some times they burn, some times they have stabbing pains and some days they are just there. Every once in a while my feet really give me fits and then I panic and worry and I think I make them feel worse.
I haven't been on lyrica for several years and the cost is pretty high even with insurance but it may be time to whine to my doc again.
If you have children looking to go to school, even if it is a few years off, start looking for financial assistance now because it all takes time to apply for and fill out the paperwork. I would contact any religious, fraternal, labor or other organizations you belong to. You may also look to your alma mater or any fraternity you may have belonged too. You never know where financial assistance may come from.View Thread
