I'm in such pain that at times I don't think I can take it anymore. I'm at a Spine Center receiving injections to pinpoint my problem. A list of what's wrong so far - Disc degeneration in lumbar & lumbar sacral area, Lumbar Radiculopathy, Sacroilitis (sp?) & Spondylolisthesis of lumbar region. I'm waiting on an appt for another injection in S1-S2 region. The doctor thinks he's found the area of most of my problems. I'm just hoping this helps. I also have a list of exercises to do to strengthen my core. Just need to get the ambition up & not be in pain to do them. UGH
I know you all aren't doctors but just sounding off helps!View Thread
Thanks for the advice Joy. Just hung with the pharmacist and it could be causing my symptoms. I asked if I shouldn't take it tonite and she advised to take it because if I stop it suddenly, I may feel worse tomm. She said a lower dose may be what's needed. Again, thanks for your advice. I'll be calling the doc's office again tomorrowView Thread
I think I may have had a reaction to one of the meds today. This has been going on since the doc added it last week. I'm on Nortriptiline (sp?) and have noticed a strange taste in my mouth, dry mouth, confusion like you wouldn't believe, shakiness...just an all around odd feeling of being out of sorts. It has helped with the pain and helping me sleep better because I take it at bedtime. Called the doc's office this morning and they were gonna check with the doc and get back to me. They haven't yet and I don't know if I should take it tonite or not.View Thread
Just read your personal info here on WebMD and found you're allergic to all narcotics. SO AM I!! It's awful to not have at least that to help with the pain. I'm taking Celebrex now with muscle relaxers. I'm also taking Gabapentin 300 mg, 3 x's a day. They added Nortriptyline 25 mg at bedtime. That's helping me sleep...thank goodness.View Thread
I haven't been to either ortho or neuro spine surgeon. I think that's the next step. I've been going to the NY Spine & Wellness Center since January. I've had 5 injections so far, trying to pinpoint the problem area. I've had an EMG study done a few weeks ago and an MRI of the pelvic area a week ago. Went back to see the Doc & NP and they told me it's the S1-S2 nerve root. When the Doc was hitting my knees with the little hammer I had no reflexes. That scared me! This unbelievable pain started when I went back to work after my father's death this past December. I've gone downhill since. At one point, I looked at my husband and started crying telling him how scary this all is. The scary part is how fast I've gone to manageable pain to pain that's a 10 on the pain scale!
I've always had back issues. I do have scoliosis that looks awful to me on an xray but I'm told it's not that bad. At times I'd see a chiropractor for adjustments throughout my life. BUT last June 2013 things changed. I started going for adjustments more regularly and that seemed to help. Stopped going when my Dad died and then started back up in January this year. I'd go for an adjustment and the next day I'd be in agony. I'd call the chiro and go back for another adjustment. This went on for 2 weeks and I asked and he agreed to go see a spine specialist.
It's funny you mention those two websites...been to them and yes they are helpful.
