Yes Canadians are generally more laid back indeed! Like you said, its hard to explain. I think the 'need for the almighty dollar' isnt as great and therefore ppl take the time to smell the roses. Workers actually take their holidays and vac time to do something versus just working even more. No, its not lazy or that they dont need the money, I dont mean that. It just seems a whole everything is more balanced. One thing I know the USA could use immediately is mandatory holidays. We have 12, a company has to pay you for them. If, for example you work at a convenient store that open 24/7 you get paid double time. Even grocery stores etc have to give you the time off or pay double.View Thread
Sorry I am just now seeing this post. I do recall all the things that had transpired thru the years w your Mum. I am so sorry to hear of this latest development. But dont give up on her! She has over come cancer before, and we just never ever know .......... Part of what has made you so awesome as a Mum, spouse and friend can actually be contributed to her, and how she treated you as a youth. It taught you to know and be better than that. It taught you that care and love is much stronger than angst. People in those kinds of childhood situations go either way...exactly like the 'bad' person or to the complete opposite. Not only are you the opposite, but what she put you thru made you TOP NOTCH and someone every one is grateful to have around. My dad always called me baby girl too and that really made me smile. You mentioned the part of saying 'bye' to her on the phone and how that made you feel. Actually something my family always practiced and I still do to this day, we never ever say 'bye' especially on the phone. We say I love you. Last night I talked to my bro, we ended w the I love yous and then I say 'muuaaah' and he does the same, then we hang up. Even if you and your Mum dont share mushy words, maybe you can start to end your convos with 'talk to you later' versus bye.
Girl, I hope Matt does most of the driving. hahaha 1. Ppl who dont use turn signals (thought I would start with that just for you J) 2. Indecisive ppl 3. Kids who dont respect their elders. 4. The cupboard doors being left open. 5. Being on the phone with someone, and they talk to others in the room grrrrrrrrrr my bro does that to me and ticks me off! 6. All this flipping rude texting ie in line at stores when they should be paying attention, at your house for a short visit but stay on the text the whole time etc etc 7. Lack of common sense. 8. Wasting water or hydro. View Thread
Cookie..Hehe re your Mugwumps etc...I hear ya girl! You know you are welcomed in my home anytime. Yes we have plenty of cold, but your asthma might enjoy the break up here. Currently we have had some gorgeous snow fall and at night you dont need out side lights, it is so pretty.
Matt...On the whole you basicly have it right. imo the best thing with our gun laws are there is a waiting period for any hand gun and no assault weapons. There are no 'ifs' as to what happens if you are caught with one, the law is used the same to each person. Recently someone had ordered in two parts one from the USA. They had it shipped in 2 parts to 2 different addresses. No-no. The customs xrayed the boxes, opened them, put this HUGE thing together. It was a crazy piece of machinery! The company got in trouble and Officers went straight after the person who ordered it. I dont know exactly what happened to either, but it was NOT just a slap on the wrist.
I have a 12yo who lives down the street and she helps me around the house. I knew her dad hunted. One day when she was here the news was on and guns were mentioned. I asked her, other than your dad's rifle, does he own other weapons. She said yes.... SIX lmao. 3 rifles and 3 hanguns.
Of course, we have our illegals on the street, much moreso in large cities such as Toronto or Vancouver, but the laws are tougher and most importantly enforced when those persons are caught. View Thread

No bigfoot??????? Yes there is, hehe, says the Canadian, of course we call them Sasquatch. Never seen a Leprecaun, aliens are in every country, every where. Seems like Mel and I are on the same page re all the other stuff. It is funny that just as many Canadians own 'protective' type hand guns/hunting rifles as Americans, but its just not something people gab about or anything.View Thread
Your dd sounds very mature for her age and really cares about her Mum, that is so sweet. Sometimes less is more, so just keep it short and simple I think. My Mum was BP and had lots of panic attacks. As a young child that part is what scared me. I think the best word is depression or very sad, something along those lines versus BP. "Sometimes Mothers just get really sad and need to rest, thats why when I feel good I want to do as much as I can and laugh alot. The best part is I always always love YOU"
I fully agree. Thats what I meant that Hopefully a doctor knows the diff between vent versus actual. They have been trained to know so. The laws as you mentiond sound 'crazier' than me
People with health conditions should be able to protect themsleves/homes just like any one else. Be them mental or physical. As you know many of us BPs right here have weapons, right cookie? hehe she has to, she lives in AZ ! Just as I think its a 'requirement' if you live in GA.
I didn't mean to get carry away so I apologize for that. But as a lot of you know, I am unable to even get out of the house most of the time, and you can only discuss something so many times with your mate. Hence I used this as a chance to chat with people I care about, who may or may not disagree.View Thread
