Hi Lindsey, I am so sorry that you have to go the road nobody wishes to go. I haven't been posted here for awhile, but had a lot of help from survivors when I needed it the most... I had bilateral mastectomy done 4 years ago, but without a reconstruction ( I did not want to wait 3 month for the surgery). I have to tell you that it was a lot of pain that I had to deal with in the first week. I had medications for that. My kids were older then yours, so they were helping me actually. Of course, I was scared, but I knew I had to go thrue this. With bilateral mastectomy I spared myself from radiation and chemotherapy. I had to take Tamoxifen, but stoped 6 months later ( it gave me rare but serious side effect- blood clot- DVT-). I survived this too. I am going on with my life, eating healthy and exercising. I am sure that your mom and husband will help a lot with the recovery. Have faith in God and keep positive attitude no matter how hard it is. You will go thrue this difficult time, I am sure of it. Please, feel free e-mail me at nataliya_markhelyuk@rogers.com and I will be more then happy to answer all your questions that you may have... God bless you and your family! NataliyaView Thread
