I took your suggestion and posted my reply above to the 'tips'
section. I hope I did it correctly and I hope it is helpful to anyone suffering from Rad treatments. My heart goes out to them. I have so much compassion for each and every patient on this site and to many more that are not.
Blessings.....

I will get right to the point....I tried it all......and this is the ONLY thing that worked for me..........
1.Ice cold water soaked wash cloths laying on all burnt areas, helps draw out the heat, rads burn for a long period of time after treatments stop, so continue until there is no discomfort at all.
2. Ice packs day and night bring much needed relief. Even ice in a double zip loc bag will help.
3. Cortizone creme applied as directed on tube, ice packs over that too. Alternate cort creme and antibiotic creme. Over the counter is fine just follow directions on tube.
4.Kitchen corn starch used like bath powder once the burns are 'closed'. And ice packs over this as well.
5. Do not bathe in soapy hot water.Bathe in tempid water.Do not 'scrub' that area, just rinse over it with a slightly soapy cloth and rinse extremely well with clear tempid/cool water. Use a VERY gentle bath soap as in 'Ivory' or 'Aveeno'. Only use a little on that radiated area.
6.Go braless and in cool cotton T-shirts every chance you get.Mine was so bad I went braless for a very long time.
7.Do not over heat.
8.Get meds to help you relax and sleep if necessary. I took/take Xanax. Taken as directed, it will not hurt you.
This will take a period of time to clear up but it WILL get back to normal as far as your skin goes.It WILL improve. Give it time.
Key word is keep it 'COOL'. No sun on it, no warm water.Any type of warmth will increase pain and itch.
Hope this helps. I am 2 years out and my skin finally looks and feels normal. I carried ice packs, extra zip locs and corn starch with me everywhere I went. My worst complaint was the itch, The list above is how I managed it.
Best of luck and please stay in touch. I will pray for you.
Blessings.......

Yes, I have had bone density test and they were in range.
I did not have chemo so we can rule that out.
Right now DH and I have the flu. So, I will be brief as I feel so 'lousy'!
But wanted to thank each of you.
Also........I really love seeing all the 'pet' ID pictures on here! What a sweet change. I hope I had something to do with setting that off. :>}
Thanks and God Bless you my dear friends.

I agree with Judy, get a second opinion. I always say if we encounter a brick wall knock it down or go around. It does not sound as if you are getting any answers and not much help the way things are, so change them. I assume your insurance will pay for second opinions.Try your best. You should not have to go thru this turmoil.
I wish you the best and please come back and let us know how you are,

I have been doing ok but have a couple of questions........1. sense I finished radiation 2 yrs ago I take colds/viruses/sore throats/coughs very easy and very often, as I did not before.....and.........I have also had an itchy scalp sense radiation treatments too. Is either of these comman? And if they are what can be done. I seem to keep a sore throat and cold and my scalp itches so bad I want to pull my hair out at times.
I know both of these questions are kind of off the wall but in hind sight that is when they started. Radiation affect immune system?
By the way.........it's was 2 yrs in Aug. sense surgeries and my arm is still numb, still does not have normal strength or virsitility and both arms have become very large but are not swollen.I have had a weight gain and do not know why. Doctors do not commit on that. I am still on Arimidex, 2 years in March. Still fatigued and ribs and spine still hurt.
Ok, that was a quick update. Would appreciate feedback from any of you that can relate to any of this.
Oh, Tator Tot is growing and doing very well!
Love and Blessings.......

I have more information for you on the seroma building under your arm.............It is a FACT that this can/could have been caused from 'overusing' your arm while packing and moving.Any of us who have had node removal are at risk of this at ANY time after we have nodes removed. Even years down the road. Recomendations are that the fluids may move on, on their own in time. If the fluids build up worse then have it checked but many times the fluids will reabsorb on their own. Use your discomfort levels for determination on medical asisstance. Also, after having nodes removed, we should be wearing rubber gloves on the affected arm/hand while using cleaning fluids/cleaners.The chemicals can affect the health of our node/arm system on the affected side.
So, considering the move you have made, it is not all that unusual for this to happen. Let it rest and give it some time.If it does not improve consult a physician.
Hope this helps!
