Be careful to get an oversupply or you may be dealing with other issues as well. My daughter was a preemie and had issues nursing in the beginning. She was tube fed my breast milk in the NICU. I was trying to feed her 8 times / day and she barely latched so I'd pump after each attempted feeding. My supply was HUGE. I was pumping about 50-60 oz / day while she was only taking about 8-10oz / day. Then, when I went to feed her, the flow was so fast from having so much milk that she had trouble and would cough a lot while nursing.
You definitely want a good supply for when you go back to work but make sure your pump schedule at work can keep up with what you're doing now or you risk clogged ducts or other similar issues if you suddenly stop empyting the breasts as often as you are.
Good luck!

Also, some others have recommended oatmeal to help increase supply - it's cheap and easy and obviously not harmful to baby. Good luck!View Thread

I pump mostly to keep up my supply so I can nurse her on the days she is home with me. I have hundreds of ounces of milk in my freezer! She's most likely my last one so I want to savor the moments with her and not rush the weaning process. As much as I hate pumping, I know it's important to keep her nursing well (she won't take a bottle or milk in a sippy cup!! Stubborn little girl).View Thread

I belong to a local Breast feeding support group run by a nurse / lactation consultant and we have talked about tandem nursing. The nurse / lactation consultant understands why doctors may frown upon nursing during pregnancy but she doesn't think it's a problem. Personally, if my son was only 8 months old, I would have kept nursing him until he was at least a year old if I could.
Good luck!View Thread
