I'm feeling sooooo much better!!! Finally saw some colostrum leaking out and got the LO to latch on a few times. Now I'm just dealing with the daddy who wants to continue to feed her the formula before I put her on the breast. He has a fear that she will not get as much nutrition because my milk hasn't come in. This is also a time when he bonds with her because he usually feeds her.View Thread
I am still trying. I do put her skin to skin, and try to get her latched on. She just does not want my nipple. I can understand that it takes milk a few days to come in, but I'm not even getting any colostrum out. Nothing but air. I wonder if the c-section has an effect of me not being able to produce anything for baby. A lactation consultant saw me yesterday, but she really wasn't much help. Basically her suggestion was to pump. Not much assistance of trying to get baby latched on. I'm going to meet with another consultant today. Hopefully she will be able to help me more. Thanks for your reply and help!!!!View Thread
I'm getting so discouraged. I had a c-section Saturday night, which in itself was a discouragement. My daughter had to be given formula due to her blood sugar dropping and me still being in recovery. Now I'm having a hard time breastfeeding with her. I even tried pumping but nothing comes out!!! What can I do? I really don't want her to be formula-fed.View Thread
I was discussing with my fiancee about when I should take off of work. I only have enough leave for 2 weeks and plan to use unpaid leave for 2 additional weeks. He starts talking about that maybe I should only take off for 2 weeks. I refuse to only be out for 2 weeks. When I saw a lactation consultant, she mentioned that baby should breastfeed at least for 4-6 weeks. His opinion is that I have to do what I need to do for baby and that we need our income. When I do my date calculations, I don't think that I would have a drop in my money. I would still get paid at the end of the month and the end of the next month I would be getting my income tax. I am the only one working at the moment. He is stressing me out though. It's as if subliminally he is saying that I'm not willing to do what I need to do for my baby.
How long do you guys think a baby should exclusively breastfeed?View Thread
Thanks for your response. I think you're right about it just being milk ducts. I haven't noticed any colostrum coming out though. It does feel like a lump right at the top. It started happening this weekend and my appt was Friday. I go to the doctor again Friday so I'll bring it up then. Thanks again.View Thread
Is it possible to have clogged milk ducts before breastfeeding? I am almost 7 months pregnant with my first child. Some days I will feel a lump and when I massage it or take a warm shower it will go away. Is it the milk ducts I'm feeling or something more serious?View Thread
Lurking from 2nd tri...This is my first pregnancy. I am almost 4 months along. I look forward to breastfeeding and sharing that bond with my LO. I have heard stories from some that they could not breast feed because they did not produce any or enough milk. They had to resort to formula. Is there a reason for this? Is there something that I could do so this will not happen or is it something that I will just have to deal with?View Thread
