Thanks for your advice. My doctor and I have discussed this problem and it includes an entirely different lifestyle change for me, I have gone on a diet low in saturated fats and cholesterol. As expected I had to empty my refrigerator and kitchen cabinets and start over. I am now checking on cholesterol and sodium intake as well as saturated and trans fat before placing anything in my shopping cart.I maintain a healthy body weight, I do not smoke, drink alcohol and I am trying to manage my stress levels. I am taking the Lipitor as prescribed and hoping for a miracle.
My doctor thinks I am off to a good start on managing the situation but I am still struggling to understand all of thisView Thread

I received the results for my cholesterol on Monday and was surprised. The numbers are quite alarming, my HDL is 85, my LDL is 128. It made me depressed, I never, ever thought someone like me could have a problem like this. I am very meticulous when it comes to eating, most of my family and friends say I am a "picky eater." I am still trying to come to terms with this illness. I see people eating unhealthy, abusing alcohol, smoking, using drugs and they seem fine, I do none of those things, I take extremely good care of myself, I just don't understand. You know that old saying, "The closer you get to God the harder Satan is going to attack you."
That's the problem so many people face in this country, they cannot see a doctor who is not on their insurance list no matter what the situation is and that is so sad.
I cannot understand how any doctor could curse a patient, what is this world coming to?
I'm very sorry to hear about your shoulder, take care of yourself and take things easy; dont do anything to aggravate the situation.
Happy to hear you are working with someone you are comfortable with, that is very important when it comes to your peace of mind.

I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with an orthopedic surgeon, some of my best friends are orthopedic surgeons, they are quite respectable and kind hearted people. You might want to consider changing doctors in that field.View Thread

He did advise me though to continue taking the Lipitor for about six months at which time he will re-run some other tests to see whether more plaque is forming or if it is shrinking, he thinks there is a good chance it will, if it does, He will put off surgery for a while.
If on the other hand more plaque continue to form he will re think surgery as all surgeries come with a certain degree of risk.View Thread

You are right I did some research on this subject and I did not see anywhere that Lipitor or any other statin for that matter eliminating plaque. What I did see was Lipitor helps to prevent more plaque from forming, and definitely not in six months.
I do feel my doctor was giving me the run around since he refused to give me a referral to see a Cardiologist or a Vascular Surgeon. So I went around him and did it myself.
I haven an appointment in the morning to him, I am scared as to what I will find out but also relieved to be seeing someone who is qualified in this field. Thank you, all of you, thanks very much for your advice and input, if it weren't for all of you I probably would never have done anything to help myself.
I believed and trusted my primary physician when he told me everything will be fine.
