I have been on satins for at least 20 years. I recently started seeing a new MD who disagrees with the common belief that high cholesterol is a problem, and it is an issue created by the drug makers. I have been trying to find a time frame for when high cholesterol was determined to be a problem related to heart disease, etc. as well as when the first satins appeared on the market. He has also recommended "The Oiling of America" as a more accurate solution for heart disease. With my consent I went off my satin and in 6 mos. my cholesterol went from about 150 to over 200. He has since put me on a very low dose satin and I will test next month to see where I am. I am confused and concerned.View Thread
WOW! What a community. While I am not a strong believer in statistics as the ultimate word, as they are influenced by who commissions the study, they certainly provide direction. This community has provided me many directions to look into. the other issue here, one I did not mention in my original post, was the possible harm that may be done by taking satins. There has been reference to their "encouraging" Dementia. I believe this is referenced in "The Oiling of America". Thank you one and all.View Thread
Thank you bobby75703 and all others who took the time to answer. This does seem to answer the question as to when satins appeared but I am still interested when the Medical Community decided high levels could be a major influence on our health. Also at what point did the FDA become involved? Again, Thank you. JerryView Thread
