"Many folks in their 30s and 40s chow down on burgers, fried chicken and other fatty foods without fear, figuring they have years before they need to worry about their cholesterol levels."
I Certainly don't agree with fast food. In fact I avoid it at all costs. There is a strong association in consumer's minds with fast food and heart disease, but truth be known, the state with the highest per capita spending on fast food has one of the lowest death rates from heart disease. Its a troubling statistic for me.
I find the areas where heart disease is at its worst, the diet contains high amounts of flour and sugar. They eat many of the same foods I do, (Chicken, fish, and beef.) The difference being they elect to coat everything in batter made from wheat flour. Next they add a flour biscuit, then a dessert which amounts to more flour and sugar.
Wheat flour tends to dominate diets in these areas of the US hardest hit from heart disease.
Demonizing cholesterol is crazy profitable, and there is no shortage of articles painting a dark image of cholesterol.
Scare tactics of "Cholesterol spreading cancer in the body" is enough to make anyone rush out for a prescription. But cholesterol is vital to the development of all healthy cells. Without cholesterol we could not live. Human life would cease to exist.
Wisdom, coupled with education in human physiology is key to developing the insight needed to spot when claims lead consumers astray.
"cholesterol wreaks havoc on the orderly process of cell division."
The statement defies nature. If it were true a fetus would not develop. Cholesterol plays a very important role in body development. This is why there is so much cholesterol in an egg. Its there so the new chick can develop. Children need cholesterol to grow.
This demonizing of cholesterol is out of hand. Its a slap in the face to GOD who created it for our benefit.
The brain is the one organ most dependent upon cholesterol for proper function. So important it manufactures its own supply. roughly 25% of your body's supply of cholesterol is devoted to brain function.
I love cholesterol- because it keeps my cognition sharp.View Thread
Just like celebrities having to put up with the grocery store tabloids, medical professionals have to put up with fear mongering "medical" articles which amount to nothing more than a push to boost sales of a pharmaceutical product.
