on july 2nd 2011 my 2 year old daughter broke out in what we thought was a heat rash, literally from head to toe, when it didnt go away after a week and was getting worse bringing with it sever outbursts of rage and frustration i took her to her doctor. it ws decided that she had a severe case of hives, she was givin prescriptions for antihistamines and steroids. after three days with no improvement we returned to my daughters doctor, he agian wrote her a prescription for a different antihistamine. we returned to her doctor every 2 to 3 days for more then a month, she was put on every antihistamine and more doses of steroids then any 2 year old should ever be put on,her diet was completely changed and she was kept away from common environmental allergens, nothing helped. this hives were everywhere, on her scalp, palms of her hands and feet, you could even see them under her tiny finger and toenails. eventually the hives went from classic looking hives to big round welps that if i didnt know better could have been mistaken for some sort of bug bite. some would swell so big her skin would bust open and the itching was unbearable to her. about a week after the hives changed she experienced extreme swelling of her joints, mainly her elbows, knees and ankles, it wouldnt happen to all at once it would just be random. as a joint would swell the bigger it got the more hives would pop up on her entire body. she would also get a red spot on her right cheek and as an outbreak progressed and got worse the red spot would grow up and down that side of her face. you could see her personality change as the spot grew, she would turn angry and go into outbursts that could last for hours of screaming hitting kicking tantrums. when she was takin to an allergist at the childrens hospital a full panel allergy scratch test was done, the results came back completely negative for any allergy. blood work was takin to test for autoimmune diseases nothing was found. they sent us home. we dealt with this till late october early november when it mostly just went away, with only the occasional outbreak. as summer his this year i feared for the worst. and in late april the joint sweeling started again. followed by extreme random swelling of any part of her skin that gets so big im afraid shes going to burst her skin, each swell spot will last for 2 to 3 weeks then turn into a large ugly bruise before it goes away. we continue to take her to her doctors but have yet to recieve any answers or any type of relief for my daughter. nothing relieves her pain or itching and lotions and creams burn her already sensitive and irrated skin. i feel helpless and each time im told they cant find anything i get a little sadder for my poor baby girl. if anyone can give us any ideas of any kind please please do.View Thread
