Fuzar, thank you for posting. I haven't heard of Chiari Malformation either, but am glad to have this information to pursue if my current treatment doesn't remedy my symptoms. I pray for your healing.
Hate to hear about your husband's recent sleep/dream issues. Sounds scary for both of you. Based on what I've read vivid dream hallucinations/nightmares etc. can also be symptoms of Lyme Disease/RMSF. Is it possible that the treatment with Doxycycline didn't work? Maybe not long enough? We know that prednisone suppresses the immune system which in turn would allow those crazy spirochetes to multiply. They upped the dose of Doxy, but it just couldn't over power them?
I remember, years ago, having the vivid nightmares with hallucinations upon waking during the nightmare. Had no idea at the time what Lyme/RMSF was. As with many symptoms of chronic Lyme/RMSF, it went away on its own. Have not had that since starting my treatment with Lyme & RMSF either. Because of Lyme/RMSF? Not sure, but suppose could be since I do not know when I contracted Lyme/RMSF.
There's LLD out there and I think you mentioned maybe using one. Did you decide to?
Also, just realized its been about 3 months since I began my naturopathic treatment and you had asked me to update. Sorry took me so long.
It is a 6 month process. My Naturopathic said give him 6 months and he could rid me of it as he has others. He is treating me with his homeopathics - natural antibiotic (that I will stay on for the 6 months) etc. as well as detoxifying my system. He prescribes herbs to support certain functions as needed - for me it's my adrenals, thyroid, inflammation, anxiety, energy etc.
The last 3 months have been a roller coaster just as my naturopathic doctor said it would be. Times of feeling like my old self in all ways - energy, mental sharpness, no anxiety, no migraine - just the healthy version of me. Granted these have been short lived -- like one or two hours windows, but there. Until the last few days when I have had more time as my healthy version than the other. Very thankful.
Before the last few days, in the 3rd month, I had a month that was complete opposite. Needed naps, no important decisions were made as didn't trust myself (if I even remembered I needed to make one - thank goodness for smart phone calendars with reminders! lol ), high anxiety, very achy... rested a lot and did not commit to anything because didn't know how I would feel/perform. This, I was told, was part of the roller coaster ride and a healing crisis (for those on antibiotic - called herxing which could be what your husband is doing with the vivid dreams that throw him out of bed if he was on the doxy at that time). I also was having terrible pain in my sternum and ribs - weird, but remember having pains off and on during my life in this area. This pain, though, woke me from sleep when laying on side - pain last like 5 minutes and no moving forward or backward...maybe worst pain ever. Also, I had joint pain other places. The spirochete bacteria likely set up "shop" there and now dying off causing the pain & inflammation. So, in my world of healing these things are good, though not fun to deal with. Migraines at least continue to be shorter, but some last 3 days. So, have to say improvement still, even in that 3rd month regarding migraines.
I go tomorrow to see my naturopathic doctor. He'll retest my urine and use the vega testing I mentioned in my first post and I will see how I am progressing.
I am half way there, have hope and continue to pray God blesses this natural approach. I thank God for the blessing of it thus far. Pray also for your husband others here who have, or know of others that have sickened with Lyme/RMSF. Please keep us posted on your husband. Did you decide to seek out naturopathic doctor as well? Am happy to discuss my experience further via email, if you'd like. Hugs, bunno23!View Thread
I hope that this reply post, being a year later, has found you healed of your RMSF. If not, I just want to offer a naturopathic option. I just had my first appointment with this type of treatment. My quality of my life had deteriorated to the point that I wanted to find the root of my problems. I have severe migraines that have become my norm - seems like I have more days with a migraine than not. My daughters are beginning to know only of their mother as being sick - having a migraine, fighting a migraine or recovering from a migraine. After I had one for 14 days straight, I decided to try something different than medication.
I have just begun this journey, but am hopeful. How this relates to your story is that, unknowing to me, the doctor picked up on the fact that I had had Lyme disease and RMSF at some point in my life. He also picked up on the Epstein Barr, Epstein Barr-Hepatitis, Zoster (chicken pox) etc. that I knew that I had in my growing up years. My mother is no longer living for me to ask about the Lyme and RMSF symptoms she may or may not have caught - without the rash or knowing a tick had bitten me, she likely wouldn't pick up on the other symptoms, especially if they weren't severe.
The goal of the naturopathic is to eliminate from my body all of the antibodies that were found including Lyme and RMSF. He said that I will feel worse at times during the process, but that was normal. It could take up to 6 months.
After learning more about the symptoms of Lyme and RMSF (chronic), I can see that many of my issues are also symptoms of one or the other.
If you haven't found relief from the other routes you have pursued, I encourage you to try a naturopathic doctor. I was given the name of mine from my massage therapist who has been treating me for my pain in my trapezius that were so bad at one point I couldn't even wear a necklace or jacket/shirt that pressed down on them even the slightest bit. That is a symptom of the Lyme, I believe.
Pray you have already found healing and are in much better place experiencing the quality of life you deserve.View Thread
I want to offer a different approach to helping your husband.
I have had migraines for most of my life, but nothing like what I have dealt with the last 5 years. I had one that lasted 14 days straight which was the last straw and it sent me on a search for help which led me to a naturopathic doctor. When I was asked to write down the top three things I wanted to address I wrote 1) migraines 2) foggy head - very very slow thinking (I could have written so much more, but it was embarrassing to admit it all) 3) anxiety. I also felt fatigued but felt it was from the migraines because you feel bad when it is over for at least a day and I was having them so frequently even other days other than the 14 day one.
They did a thermography test, very in depth urinalysis and a bio-genetic evaluation. From the bio-genetic test he was able to detect the Epstein Barr (mono), Epstein Barr Hepatitis, Zoster (chickenpox) that I knew I had had in my growing up years. But, what he was able to detect that I am unaware that I have had at some point was Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, candida as well as an intestinal parasite. I was also low in magnesium, calcium and sugar - maybe others but those come to mind the most. Once I was able to read up on the Lyme and RMSF, I am finding the things I wrote on my symptom (want to address) and the findings from his tests all point to symptoms of the Lyme and RMSF. I didn't write this down on the list but marked it on my pain reference diagram, but I have had the chronic pain in my neck and upper back (trapezius), joint pain etc. The thermography test picked up on my TMJ which I have read can also be an issue for Lyme or RMSF patients.
My understanding is that the antibodies are present in someone's system, but that medical blood tests do not pick up on them because the testing standards need to be changed, they just haven't done so. Therefore, medical doctors cannot diagnose what they cannot prove via blood tests.
The goal of the naturopath is to take all of the antibodies out of my system that were detected - all of them. I have just started on the program he prescribed and was told it could take up to 6 months, but that those who follow the program feel like a new person at the end of 6 months. During the 6 months, the treatment will make me feel worse at times but that is part of the process. Naturopathic medicine gets to the root of the problem that in turn takes care of the symptoms. That's what I need to feel better and have my quality of life back, so I am willing to feel worse at some points to feel like my old self again and enjoy my family.
I want to offer the option of a naturopathic doctor for your husband. This is my first time posting on this site and not sure how it works, but if my email is available to you and you want to discuss further, please feel free to contact me. I found my naturopathic from two recommendations. One was the massage therapist I have been using because of my trapezius were so painful that I couldn't even wear a necklace or a shirt/jacket that pressed on them the slightest bit.
I pray your husband finds the help he needs to gain his quality of life back. He is blessed to have someone who is searching for help. View Thread
