You may be sorry that you gave such a thoughtful gift! Mary may just take you up on it's usage to keep you in line.
When my daughter was in college, she got a permit to carry mace or pepper spray forget exactly which. Whatever she was allowed to carry, that's what it was.
It did give me some comfort knowing that she had its use at her disposal. Some nights the distance from where she was able to get parking and to her dorm was a ways, poorly lit and wooded. She also has worked in retail and has to do closing shifts. Coming out late at night, going to her car is a concern as well. Fortunately, she has never had to use it.
Wrapping it up with an addition of a box of chocolates or some flowers if that's her fancy, may really top off a sweet and considerate gift all in one.
Hope she likes your thoughtfulness!

It's called LDA. I guess it's been around for awhile but was under another name (forget what that was at the moment). The original formula was mixed for European environment.
LDA formula now being used in the US is more suitable for our environment and foods.
Yes, I do believe it is helping. The LDA diet that I have to follow strictly for 3 days is a bit rough. Then I'm supposed to follow a VMD (very mixed diet) for 21 days after that. I do my best with that but follow more of an elimination diet. This means trying not to eat the same thing on any given day with a rest of 4 days between.
Also, I have to come off all supplements and medications within a certain time-frame depending upon the supplement or med. That has some negative effects. Being off digestive enzymes in particular really affects my IBS symptoms. Another thing that I noticed is that my taste to foods is effected for a few days.
It gets complicated. I'm trying my best but have made up my mind not to stress over it as well.
The smoke was expected to affect areas here today but luckily, it didn't come my way. Monday was rough, though.
Hope that it gets under control (if it hasn't already) soon! For my northern neighbors as well as the States.

It's been awhile since I've been here. Welcome to the newbies on board.
Memorial Day I went to the parade with my daughter in the town that her boyfriend was marching for the fire department. The Canadian winds blew the smoke all the way down to this sleepy New England town.
Had such a difficult time, lungs rebelled for the rest of the day and day after. I feel for our Canadian neighbors who are dealing with the smoke filled sky.
Today, we are supposed to be affected as well. It's not bothersome yet. Hoping that the winds go in a different direction than it did on Monday.
Hubby was on duty that day and they spent the morning searching for brush fires that were non-existent. They finally got a call from a neighboring fire tower to confirm that there were no brush fires in the area.
Started on an experimental allergy treatment a few months ago. Also, started on the medication Midodrine for disautonomia. It seems to be helping. Little steps forward and less back lately.
Hugs and take care to all,

I think that it is a good thing to relay info to her.
Yet, it's not your job to have to educate her during your paying session.
If she seems to accept the info with interest that's one thing but if she seems to blow it off, then it's time to search elsewhere.
When I was looking for a therapist, I e-mailed a few and posted that I was looking for someone who "believed" in "invisible" illnesses. I have MCS which is just as misunderstood and not accepted as a condition, maybe even more so than CFS (also diagnosed with). I chose someone who has been a great help to me the last 3 years.
She has been non-judgemental and supportive. Along with offering ideas and suggestions.
It sounds like you live in a small area without many choices. Just keep in mind that therapy is supposed to help you to accept, deal and survive daily issues and feelings.
Another link is http://www.butyoudon'tlooksick.com The spoon theory is great way to help others get a glimpse of how many of your days are spent.
Maybe it is something that you could actually do in a session with your therapist.
Today, my house is a disaster zone as well. And that is without working. Some days I just feel like such a slug. I know what needs to be done but just don't have the energy to get it done.
Take care,

It is a day of "Remembrance" which I think many forget.
Lucky are we, as a country, that we have dedicated men and women who work and have worked to protect our freedom.
Those that are willing to give their lives for the never-ending battle to gain "Peace".

Sorry it's taken me this long to respond. Hope that you check in even though this board moves slow.
Anyway, I am just over my three year mark with current physician. The process for me was developing for many years prior and just getting worse. I also have MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities).
My recovery time is far less now than it was 3 years ago. Actually, 3 years ago; I was close to spending most of my time in bed, not being able to walk up the stairs (12) in my home without having to stop half-way up for a rest, feeling like I was going to pass out each time I took a shower and not being able to bend over without being dizzy and the sensation of falling over.
I had been very active for many years, dance, aerobics, working a full-time and part-time job, volunteering at the high school to choreograph the play, walking etc.
I find that my life around activities is like a roller-coaster. Just never know when the next turn will come. One week I may be able to do lots of things and have an easy recovery period but the next week or month, the same activity level requires a longer down-time.
It sounds like you are learning your limits. I believe it is a continuing process. Being a type A personality, it's been difficult to accept limitations. Yet, I believe that I've become much calmer and more willing to say when enough is enough.
Stress levels, for me, play an important part in how I am doing. Whether it be positive stress or negative stress. My body reacts!
Again Welcome,

There is a Diabetes exchange here. I read there sometimes.
Yup, carbs need to be watched but certain carbs are more slowly absorbed into the system than others.
Take potatoes for one thing. Sweet potatoes are much better for you as to regards of sugar levels. Also, Yukon Gold and Red potatoes have a lower starch level than others.
They make pastss now that are better for the glycemic index.
If you get a meter (inexpensive) strips (expensive), you could start to monitor how your body reacts to certain foods. You may not have a spike with certain foods, yet others do.
Another thing to try is to make sure with each portion of carbs, you eat a protein with it. Exp: Crackers & Cheese, Cereal & egg, Bread & tuna etc.
Exercise does really help. When I walk regularly, my levels will drop to around the 112 mark. Yet being inactive~~~they will spike.
Have you ever tried Yoga? Although not aerobic, it helps with stress levels and helps you to learn calming techniques that are just as important to maintain a healthy level.
I have been using supplements (doctors direction) for over 3 years now; many of which are thought to be helpful with diabetes.
You can purchase cinnamon in a liquid form and use it in a variety of ways. Like adding to coffee or cooked cereal.
Below are a few links that may interest you.

Also, many of the "diet" programs now offer a menu or food choices that are geared towards diabetics. Weight Watchers can be done on-line and you use your own foods. Others will deliver food to your door.
Take care,

I love that song!!!! How ironic that it came on the radio at that precise time.
It's Wed. and here I sit. Looking at everything that needs to get done. Make the bed, fold laundry, empty and reload the dishwasher, sweep and mop the floor and the list goes on.
I don't understand how things can get away from me in just a day or two. Well, part of it, I do understand. Hubby has a one-track mind, meaning do and continue to do but never-ever finish and put away.
We had some electrical work done almost two weeks ago and I'm still looking at the pile of stuff that needs to be put back from where it came. On the flip side, the house looks cute at night now. I had two outside lights installed and put up a mailbox.
Hmmmm, poll: how about memories from summers past! Just a thought!!!
Love your by-line. The key is "almost" perpetual hysteria.
Hugs,

I never watched that show. I'll have to see if I can get it on Net-flix.
Hubby and I are hooked on NCIS. I bought my son season 1-6 but I think he left it at a friends house before he went to boot camp.
I lined it up so that we will receive the seasons in order through the mail.
As far as "Reaper Humor" goes, sometimes I find it ridiculously funny and others, I just can't deal with it.
Guess it falls into that "October" time of year for you!!!

The town I am from has been affected greatly. Lots of water damage. Even made the news!!!! The National Guards have been sandbagging the banks of the Nashua River this time. That wasn't done two weeks ago.
It's difficult to get to different areas of town as it's all connected by bridges. My parents are ok. Dad put in a sump-pump last week and they are reaping the benefits of it now.
Our basement has about 1ft. of water in it. I have given up and am pretending it's not there. Had my LDA injections today and am not supposed to be anywhere that I will have exposures. That's a laugh when pretty much of MA residents need canoes.
Could be alot worse. People have lost so much and have been evacuated.
Just thought I'd send a Hidey-Ho to all. Happy Easter to those that celebrate. To those that do not, Happy Spring!!!!! It's supposed to be in the 70's here by the weekend. It will certainly be nice to see some sun.
I think that Noah is building another Ark somewhere in New England. At least it would explain the rain, right?
