I went to the doctors last week with an unexplain itchey, hivy rash ALL over my body. It was horriable. My doctor ordered up blood work and put me on prenazone. Right now I'm feeling better. The results of my blood work were shoking though. My AST and ALT were 10 points higher than the normal range... I was freaked out but my doctors didn't seemed to worried. He just ordered another liver test in a month. But here is the truth I chew TONS of sugar-less gum and read articles online the stuff in sugarless gum and cause elevated AST and ALT levels. I'm going could turkey and have stopped all gum. Is my liver permently damaged? If not, can it be under done? What about liver caner?View Thread
Hi All, I wanted share a little about me to kick things off. For most of my life I have struggled with my weight. I've done commercial diets, obsessed over the scale, developed an eating disorder, I've gained and lost the same 20lbs countless times. Now I'm just exhausted & over all of it!
On December 9, 2009 I decided that I was done with all of it. I was going to make a commitment, not to just lose weight, but to be HEALTHY... to me this means getting enough sleep, getting exercise, leaving work at a reasonable hour, spending quality time with my family -- and getting off refined sugar. (I think there are some of us who can eat sugar & some who can't. I don't have diabetes, but I find that I can't have just 1 cookies. As soon as I have one, I want 4 more. What's amazing is that when you don't have sugar ... you don't crave sugar. At least that has been my personal experience.)
Since December I have started to adopt a "clean eating" lifestyle. I've read up a lot on refined sugar, flower and antibiotics in meats -- and it was an eyeopener for sure. By "clean eating" I mean avoiding all refined sugar, refined flour and processed foods. I try to eat all whole foods -- foods that are either organic or as close to their natural state as possible.
I'm not obsessive about my "clean eating". I did have birthday cake, and I will eat pizza every now and again. So far I have lost a little over 15lbs and I feel great! I do keep a food journal and I pay attention to calories, but it doesn't rule my life or determine my day.
I'm hoping to meet other people who are trying to live a healthier lifestyle and can share some of their favorite, tips, foods and recipes along the way!
