I have a bloody nose around three or four times per week. They usually occur in the morning after waking. Yesterday I woke up very congested. When I blew my nose it was all dried blood. A running, bloody nose continued throughout the day and it has now been over 24 hours.
I do generally run a low platelet count, around 70 - 80. The last count was 78 from a blood panel of about 10 days ago. I do have Hep C with a viral load of 1.3+ million. I have taken all treatments for Hep C except the latest because I no longer tolerate Interferon. I have never gone into remission.
I am having a little skin cancer surgery next week. Should I be concerned about my blood coagulation? Should I have an INR test before having surgery?
One last thing...would it be advisable to add Vitamin K1 to my daily list of supplements? If so, what dosage?
Any suggestion as to how I might increase my platelet count?
