Thank you. I am concerned about the contrast Gadolinium used during an MRI scan. Is this necessary for ruling out acoustic neuromas.
Also my hearing loss on the one side starts at the higher frequency 6000 (still normal) but 8000 shows mild loss. Therefore, a downward slope. Left ear is normal. Is this that unusual?View Thread

I have heard that fluid can remain a long time. Is there a test to confirm this either way. I was wondering if a nasolarygoscope might help reveal this. Also, if fluid remains, what is the best way to treat this. Thank you.View Thread

Thank you.
Do you think the Xanax would be better than the Klonopin to help settle things down. I'm not sure the difference between the two. My doctor asked if I wanted another steriod pack because it has worked for me in the past, but it was prescribed for fluid in the ear, which also helped the tinnitus. My feeling is that you think something to settle things might be better as opposed to the steriod pack. I'm concerned about going on a dose pack again because over the past 12 months have taken those four times. I'm not sure when taking those steriod packs how much is too much. Again, your thoughts please.View Thread

When I chew or yawn, I sometimes hear what sounds like a crackle in right ear. It seems to come and go. I have over the past 12 months been told there is fluid in the ear. This has happened at least 3 or 4 times and have taken steroids to clear it up. Just wondering if there might be fluid trapped in the ear somewhere. Upon examination, my ears look okay.View Thread

Ears make crackling sound when swallowing

A few days ago, I woke up in the earling morning with a hissing sound in my ears. This was terrifying to me because of an experience I had 19 years ago with tinnitus. It took a long time to resolve without any definitive reason. I had been to see many doctors looking for help with this annoying symptom. I also had ear fullness and some pain. The head noise was terrible. One test showed increased pressure in both ears. I was put on a diuretic for a short time. The ear specialist thought I might have the beginning of Meniere's disease. Another doctor told me I had a DET and put me on a decongestant. I tried homeopathy, herbs, vitamins, and accupuncture. It took about six months before I would begin to feel better.
I went to see my doctor on Monday about the recent hissing and to have my ears checked. She told me that the inside of my nose was swollen. She prescribed flonase and loratadine. She also said my ears looked fine upon examination. I have not taken the loratadine because I've read that some people have experienced tinnitus while taking it. I have been taking a lot of vitamin C and drinking more water. I can breathe through my nose better now so I don't know if I shoud use the nasal spray at all. I would prefer to do things the more natural way if possible. I also bought a Neti Pot, but I'm afraid to use it because I'm wondering about the DET. I am also taking quercetin and bromelain. Who should I see to determine if I do have a DET? And because my ears crackle a little when I swallow, is this a sign of DET? Should I be taking a decongestant instead of an antihistamine?
I had a good day yesterday, but the hissing really bothers me when trying to sleep. I also use a fan to help mask the noise, but the hissing seems just a bit louder. It is exhausting to me. Please tell me what you think. ThanksView Thread
