these symptoms have now progressed into severe hyperacusis as well as a significantly loud, intrusive and continually changing tinnitus. symptoms continue to get worse every few days, sometimes experiencing changes within one day.
i have seen an audiologist - who diagnosed me with hyperacusis, an, ENT, and a neuro-otologist neither of whom could find anything wrong.
i still get the fluttering, and my eustachian tubes still click when i talk. when i swallow, my ears crackle VERY loudly. noise is so distressful at the moment that i need to wear hearing protection most of the time. this is absolutely ruining my life, but nobody has any idea what is happening. i am amazed this is even possible.View Thread
was thinking more along the lines of what it could possibly be, not necessarily an official diagnosis. symptoms are quickly worsening and are now progressing into a very painful dry sore throat. feels like a bubble is popping in my eustachian tubes every time i speak, cough, clear my throat, or sneeze. still 5 more days before i can see my doctor.
i made an attempt at the emergency room last night but after a 9 hour wait i decided i couldn't wait any longer. if i have to be sick at work the least i can do is allow myself some sleep...View Thread
thank you for the response. now every time i talk i can feel a tickling buzz or vibration that seems to go from behind my ear to my throat. sometimes it tickles my throat so much i choke up and cough. this is in addition to the rushing air noise. feels like meds are not helping and that i'm only getting worse...View Thread
find this is making my ears very sensitive to hear loud sharp noises. it's very physically uncomfortable and in situations where it happens repeatedly can become painful and even cause headaches. i think i'm starting to be able to hear my pulse in said ear also...
please help, this is driving me crazy and i fear that the doctors are going to give me the runaround yet again...View Thread
for the past month or so my left ear has been ringing much more loudly than usual. it feels quieter also, almost "full" so to speak. i've noticed that when i cough, clear my throat, speak a word or a sentence, the pause that follows initiates what feels and sounds like a rumbling rush of air escaping from my left ear that only lasts for a second, and this is by far my most debilitating symptom. it makes me feel disoriented and almost dizzy after it happens, and as a result, conversation has become quite tedious. i also experience loud clicks in my ear after i speak and after hearing loud noises. i've considered that it could be TMJ, but it has nothing to do with movement of my jaw, and only seems to come about when i make noise or i hear sharp loud noises externally.
about a week ago today i went to a doctor about it. he checked my ears and told me my ear was infected. he gave me anti-biotics and anti-inflammatorys (for TMJ strain), which i've been taking on schedule every day, but none of my symptoms have improved, not even a little bit. in fact they seem to be getting worse, but perhaps that's just because i'm focusing on them and testing them out all the time. i have a follow up appointment for my infection in another 7 days, so hopefully i can get some answers.
