He is trying to help me--and recommended the 'ginger root' drink morning and evening and it's helping the nausea so much.
The nausea is nearly non existent these last few days that I've been drinking it. Such a relief!!
The treatments have been 'different' to say the least. They have helped a few times for brief periods--and he said would, in time, last longer and I'd only need 'maintenance visits'. We'll see.
My b/p spiked last time (not sure if it was due to the acupuncture itself or just me--because I was truly feeling awful when I got there--bad head pressure and sooooo very dizzy! He took my b/p and he insisted I call my doctor--cardiologist--and I did and he had me increase (double) my b/p meds.
Instead of one a day, I now take 2--and it has lowered it considerably. In fact a bit 'low' in my opinion. So, I'm monitoring it to tell him and he may have me to cut back on it some. We'll see.
I am hoping and praying this horrible daily dizziness and pressure will ease with these acupuncture treatments. If not---it's like nothing else can be done. So---I'll let you know after a few more visits how I'm doing. Hope you're enjoying less time having to be here on the board.
We miss you--I do for sure! Just waited until I had something more to report. Have a good summer--yanksgirl

Last 3 mos. steadily seems worse. The dizziness has alot to 'visual response' like riding in a car--even the front seat,
Even being on my computer--like now (have to do it in short stents)
Watching TV, have to look away when things move alot!
Out in public, alot of movement around me--overhead fans, lots of noise, all make it worse. Hearing is pretty good--almost too good at times and I have to take my hearing aid out! But---then don't 'understand' conversations. A mystery condition this Meniere's.
I am considering having acupuncture--some have had success with it and a good doctor has been recommended in our area.
Even my cardiologist said he would 'go for it' if he were me!
Just no 'end in sight'. I don't let it stop me for the most part, but enjoying long time trips out anywhere--or doing much of anything I used to enjoy is now short term and not truly enjoyed even then.
Just a 'quality of life' issue going on. Could be much worse I know.
Needed to 'vent'. Thanks for listening.

I do keep going--the nausea is not nearly as bad as it was/and no vomiting since the vertigo stopped,-but nausea can get pretty bad at various times like today when the dizziness was 'bad'!
I have this sensation that comes often lately of the inside of my head moving slowly in a circular motion (?) --or it can be a 'sudden' feeling and a quick movement feeling inside the head, that is over quickly--and that's the one that scares me--because that is what would happen before a vertigo attack occurred. Also, when my head is bad like today, it will 'jerk' ever so slightly--like a 'twitch' only of the entire head. I think it's because my nerves are 'so shot' with all this that its' a natural reflex.
So far, no vertigo--thank God! But life has gotten less enjoyable for sure. I 'look good' on the outside (folks tell me) but inside my head--I am 'not good at all'!
I'm heading for the recliner now--that helps!
Glad you are busy--I know you like that==hoping things are better with your shoulder too. No more surgery ahead? Sure hope not! Again--thanks soooo much for the input--one more 'ok' to try the acupuncture--it sure can't hurt to try. Yanksgirl

I posted another message on this Ent board, in reply to the your suggestion--wondering now if you meant for me to copy and paste to the 'heart health' board? Or here again for other folks to comment on this ent board?. Oh well--see, I'm already getting confused without your guidance! LOL
Anyway, I've posted a few times on the cardiac board and it takes 'forever' to get any answer. Good ones when I do, but such a long wait. Not like this board--and depending on you! Again--so long--miss you already! (: yanksgirlView Thread

You gave me the answer I needed. Thank you so much!
Again--I will miss you being 'right there'! yanksgirlView Thread

For now--update on me: Ent has me back on Valium 2 mg. a.m. and p.m. for recent symptoms getting worse with dizziness, nausea, etc. following my shunt surg. last March. I'm to call him in 3 weeks and let him know how I am.
I know you aren't a heart doctor--but having had A-fib; now under control, it seems lately my heart skips for a very long time 2 beats at a time, races at odd times, skips after 3-4 and 5 beats and so I'm very lightheaded, more so when this occurs and it's hard to know if it's my ear or heart. Today has been bad--lightheadness, nausea (mild) but heart doing it's thing. I wanted to ask your advise and saw you're leaving as of last Friday. Hope this gets to you! We'll miss you--I'll miss you! What a fantastic job you've done here for so many of us! God Bless!

As to the scopolomine patch, I used it on a trip years ago and had bad reaction to it. I wore it all the time when on water, land or etc. That may have been the problem--but didn't want to be sick.
It made me sort of 'out of it' for hours.
My a-fib is under control now--as of my last appt. I even wore a 24 hr. holter monitor and my heart wasn't in a-fib then. So, since it can come and go--I wonder at times if it's 'back' and that is causing some of this. Just hate to run to the cardio's office all the time.
Yes, I take the ginger gelatin candy that's coated in sugar.
Hope that gives you a good picture. yanksgirlView Thread

Just to clarify--I have been having serious bouts of nausea--not 'the throwing up'! I do have the suppositories on hand 'in case' the 'throwing up' would occur'.
If I could, it might help! It's just really very debilitating to feel that way for long periods of time and you can't eat until is subsides of course.
Sometimes a cracker or ginger eases it. I keep ginger with me at all times.
It will suddenly ease and then come back, but especially when I get lightheaded.
The 'feeling inside my head' that makes me feel vertigo is about to happen, makes me anxious of course. It happened again today while cleaning house.
I had to lie down awhile--and took 1/2 of a Meclizine and though I'm sleepy, it has helped. The weather here is in' 'winter storm watch' and so that also affects my inner ear as you know.
Anyway, trying not to get discouraged. I will call my ent doctor if this worsens for sure. Take care---enjoy having more leisure time.

Sure hate to hear this news!
Thank you for your answer and regarding the Zofran--I can't take it with the A-fib meds I take--they cause serious conflicts. I can take Meclizine-it does help the nausea and head thing--but not alot. I did take it yesterday when the 'near vertigo' happened. It makes me feel even more drugged, but all drugs do. I don't do drugs well at all. I am taking the Valium again--one a day for the inner ear thing. Just doing it on my own, because I know the Ent doctor would say to go back on it, if I called him. I too wonder if he can be 100% certain about 'no vertigo'. Guess that's got me concerned too.
I've had both types of vertigo--one makes me have to lay down and the other turns me upside down--physically--like a drop attack. Both cause serious 'throwing up'. What I have now is extreme nausea---no throwing up--but it makes me miserable.
Anyway--I'll sure miss you, Dr. M:

I do hope your latest surgery will help you---
